We attended a meeting at Chetola and loved the facility, but the food was not very good. Fitness center better than most; beautiful lake for fishing (did not fish); walking trails; near downtown shopping and adjacent to a Tanger Outlet Shopping Center. Fall foliage was spectacular.

Room Tip: Recommend rental condos.

So much to do, so much to see, so much to enjoy. We drove into Chetola the second week in October amid a profusion of fall color. The property is extensive and exceptionally well-maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations for fun and food. We had a small problem with the bathtub drain and it was addressed immediately with no disruption. The food at Timberlake's is great and the waitstaff fun and competent. A stroll around the lake or on one of the many trails is a beautiful autumn experience. Congratulations to management. A real gem.

Room Tip: Ask for a "lakeview deluxe king" or one of the Timberlake rooms.

We stayed for three days and had a GREAT time - lots to do around the Blowing Rock area but everyone really enjoyed returning to the resort late in the afternoon for a dip in the pool or a wlak on the nature trails. Would go again :)

I had never heard of this Inn but I won a 2 night 3 day stay and could not have picked a better place on my own. the area is beautiful. went to Grandfather mountain for a day, returned late afternoon and just sat on the balcony and enjoyed the view. At 5 pm we went to the library where our hostess Pat served wine, cheese and fruit and we visited with others from the Inn..
We have decided that we will go back at least twice a year just for a treat to ourselves. It is a little pricey but for the view, comforts and treatment from the staff it will be well worth what it costs.

Room Tip: I would stay at the Inn. Ask for the Luther Snyder Room. It is the only room with a balcony overlook...

I go to the Blowing Rock NC area 4 times a year over the past 14 years and always stay here. The hotel is great and the condos are really nice. If you can go around Christmas time when they have the lights up. Great bar and restaurants. Really cool views of the lake and mountains can be seen from your room. Downtown Blowing Rock is like a Rockwell painting. Was they last week and the highs were 78 the lows were 58. Really nice.

Room Tip: Stay lake side

We rented a condo. These units are privately owned but managed by the resort. You have full resort access when renting. For around $240/night we had a BIG two bedroom condo with a queen in the master (and its own bath w/jacuzzi tub) and two twins in the second bedroom. Eat-in kitchen with table for four, comfortable family room with TV hidden in a cabinet (we don't like to have the TV on vacation). Washer/Dryer were great. Clean, comfortable. The resort has a fantastic kids' club, a fancy but cozy/rustic restaurant, a great indoor pool, paddle boats, hiking trails galore, everything you need. It's a quick drive to Tweetsie, The Rock, downtown, everything. We will definitely stay here again. Service was also exceptional, everyone we spoke to was helpful and cheerful. Enjoy!

Room Tip: If you have a lot of luggage, try to secure a ground-floor room or you'll have to climb stairs...

We stayed in a small 1 bedroom condo in the resort. The balcony provided a great view of the mountains and was close to hiking. From the condo we were less than a mile walk to Bass Lake and from there could access other trails. Plenty of amenities to include an indoor pool, a great workout room. The resort is within walking distance to downtown Blowing Rock.

The only negative was the owner of the condo next to us would smoke cigars on his balcony with the smoke blowing into our balcony area. We informed management about this and they said they couldn't do anything about condo owners smoking but to compensate they gave one night free. If you really hate smoke it might be wise to ask the staff to provide a condo near non-smoking owners.

Despite the smoke it was a great stay and we would recommend the resort.
