“Romantic Anniversary Getaway”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

I wanted to surprise my wife for our wedding anniversary so I worked with the marketing staff to make a wonderful experience. We stayed in the Hugh Morton Suite of the Bob Timberlake Inn at Chetola. The staff set up the reservations and the dinner reservations at the restaurant.

When we arrived, we were personally escorted to the suite by Erin who is the Inn Guest Services Manager. She gave us a tour of the guest pantry, the guest library, some of the suites as well as giving us the history of Chetola from 1846 to present. When we entered our suite, she demonstrated every feature including the fireplace to make sure we could make use of every convenience. Later, she brought us chocolate covered strawberries. That evening, we were treated to a wine and cheese social where we got to meet other guests.

The dinner was great and it was also wonderful to attack the coffees and teas and the ice creams available in the pantry.

The breakfast was served on a cart with a beautiful meal setting and delicious food! It was a most romantic breakfast in a romantic suite. We hated to leave!!

Room Tip: The Chetola website offers photos of the rooms so you can select where you want to stay.

The grounds of the resort are beautiful. The condo we stayed in overlooked a brook and a pond. Lovely flowering plants all around. Peaceful and quiet, with the exception of the family in the unit above us. Our unit was the Magnolia 3, which was very clean and comfortable, but pretty outdated. We looked at the lodge rooms, and they were outdated too. We ate at the resort's Timberlake Restaurant on the outdoor patio, which was a great setting. The meals, wine, and service were all good.

Room Tip: Ask which rooms/condos have been newly updated.

We brought our entire family ( 2 Kids and 2 adults) for a get-away weekend. It did rain the entire weekend, but the hotel was so lovely. We really enjoyed our stay and I would love to come back in the summer time. The hotel looks like something out of a storybook, it was so lush and green. The room was OK, very basic. The Bob Timberlake Inn served up a wonderful breakfast, really top notch. My husband and I got to enjoy a KID FREE dinner on Friday night, with their free babysitting service. The spa and pool were great after a long day of sight-seeing. I would love to come back again. The friendly staff, the beautiful views and the food really made our weekend. I HIGHLY recommend.

We were in town for out anniversary and stayed Friday and Saturday nights. With the rain we did not get out and walk around the grounds due to the rain. We did manage to play ping pong and the wife visited the spa at Chetola (it was already scheduled before we and the rain arrived)

The breakfast was good. They have some stupid paper slip you take to breakfast that shows who you are so you can get breakfast and then they cross your name off a list. We left our paper on the table the first morning and then Sunday the girl acted as if it were a big deal we did not have the slip of paper. Anyway we ate.

We stayed in the main part, i guess. Nothing fancy, nicer than your average hotel room. I think with the rain we missed out on the beauty of the resort but again that was out of our control.

Spent a weekend at this lovely resort. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The atmosphere is so relaxing. There are nice trails accessible from the grounds. The indoor swimming pool is quite large and there are pool toys available for children. Also, there was a hot tub and spa. Nice to have that available in case the weather is rainy and cold. The rooms are large and spotless with a nice microwave and mini fridge. The rooms facing the lake are more desirable as the other rooms face the parking lot. Breakfast is complimentary and was wonderful. You can have an omelet cooked to order along with many other selections. Lastly, the staff go out of their way to make you welcome and comfortable. Very nice for a weekend getaway.

Amazing facility. Beautiful lake in front. Really nice rooms & restaurant. Staff is incredible. We've been coming here every year for our anniversary & sometimes twice a year. A great place to visit & I wouldn't stay anyplace else. Hike, shop, dine. Blowing Rock is my little Jackson hole!

Room Tip: I love the suite. We always stayed in bob timberlake rooms before but the suites are incredible!

The restaurant is located in the resort and has a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding gardens. We went to this restaurant with a large group and the staff was very courteous and efficient. The inside of the restaurant was very nicely decorated.  I had pistachio crusted chicken  which was very good and everyone else enjoyed their dinner. We would recommend this restaurant  and will dine there again.
