The scenic drive along the lake to the inn set the stage for an awesome stay. Staff was very accommodating. Stayed at the B&B in a lovely room overlooking the lake. Food and service at the restaurant was excellent. My wife loved the spa. Will return.

Chetola literally saved my daugher's wedding. We had originally booked the gazebo at Meadowbrook Inn, but when we arrived, the actual site was nothing like the pics. The gazebo looks over a parking lot and the lake is nonexistnet. They charged $500 with a $250 deposit, which they refused to return.

At 3:00 pm the day before the wedding at 1:00 pm, we called Chetola and spoke with Kara. She helped us book the gazebo and provided suggestions used by other weddings. She accommodated every need and the wedding turned out beaufifully. The gazebo was large and well maintained and grounds were beautiful even in April. I am so grateful as mother of the bride that they were so very willing to help us. Oh and by the way, they only charged $300.

Room Tip: Greatest location for an outside wedding in the Boone/Blowing Rock area

The food and service at this resort were very good. Room very clean and comfortable. Nothing special when you stay Hillside which we did because we were told all of the Lakefront rooms were gone when we booked a month in advance. A little disappointed that the restaurant and bar were not open on Wednesday night(they were still on winter hours even though it was spring already for several weeks). We were also told that we could walk into town but it really was quite far and the route was quite dangerous in my opinion. But that really was ok because at this time of year, there was plenty of free parking downtown. Just felt you should be aware. All in all a great experience. The resort is beautifully landscaped and very well maintained. Enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: get lakefront or stay in The Timberlake pat of the resort. Both were sold out when we booked a month in advance or we would have as well. Hillside is really the parking lot with some grass on a hill behind it.

My husband & I were in Boone on business this past weekend. After reading some of the tripadvisor forums we decided to check out the unique town of Blowing Rock. Just as we arrived so did the rain and fog. We had no reservations and were driving through down looking for lodging when we stumbled across Chetola. What a find! We had a wonderful time that started with a romantic, fantastic dinner.( See separate review of the Timberlake's Restaurant). The following morning we enjoyed the breakfast buffet that was included with our room package, a real bonus. It is a very quiet hotel with everything you need on site. (This was welcoming as the previous evening we had stayed in a chain hotel and was awaken by the neighbors through paper thin walls). The staff is very attentive and friendly. We had hoped to spend some time in town along with doing some hiking but the weather just did not cooperate. We thought this would just be a place to stay on our way through but has been put back on our list of places to return to enjoy not only the lodge but the hiking and many other outdoor activities the area has to offer.

My husband and I went to Chetola a few weeks ago for an adult weekend away. It was an amazing experience. Chetola doesn't feel like a big resort. There are clearly plenty of condos and room options available, but it retains the feel of a quaint country Inn. It was very quiet (clearly the down-time in Blowing Rock), which was exactly what we were looking for. The walk around the lake is beautiful and peaceful, the lights around the resort make the atmosphere magical, and the fire pit overlooking the lake allowed us to have some terrific evening discussions over coffee. The staff was also spectacular, and the restaurant will not disappoint. We couldn't have asked for more. I would guess that it gets busier during other times of the year, but I couldn't imagine it not still being super charming.

With that being said, this resort is also designed with families in mind. Condos provide more space, the pool area also has table tennis, free movie rentals with snacks, a nice workout room, the SPA!, yoga classes, and a there's a playground for the kids. There is plenty of area to run, beautiful swans to watch, and laundry facilities. We also noted that a business center and conference rooms are there, but the business center doesn't have outlets for laptops - the only real negative I could find (but that is important sometimes). High speed internet was good throughout the resort.

I would also like to note that the Foggy Rock Eatery is just down the street and the menu is out of this world!

Room Tip: Inn rooms are just above the restaurant and have a lake view. The Lodge rooms are just behind the restaurant. Rooms in the lodge on the front side of the bldg have a lake view with balconies, but the back side of the bldg has a parking lot view.
