“Very Quaint and Nice”
Reviewed 22 January 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Meadowbrook Inn & Suites on January 17 while we were bringing our son to Appalachian State University for an audition. I thought the Inn was in a great location and the staff was very friendly and the rooms were quite comfortable. We didn't have any complaints and would stay again and recommend to our friends.

We spent three nights here on a family ski trip. The hotel and grounds are very attractive. The room was a good size, even with a rollaway in it. The staff were friendly and responsive. And it was a decent value for the money.
This hotel would get a five from me but for a number of little problems.
First, and most disappointing, was that the spa in the pool area was broken. We were really looking forward to this after a cold day in the snow. SInce this was a holiday weekend with fresh snow, you'd think the hotel would make an extra effort to take care of this promptly. But apparently not.
Second, upon leaving I checked under the beds to make sure we hadn't left anything. Well, *we* hadn't left anything, but some previous guest had left empty water bottles and orange juice containers and little bits of food. Icky. Housekeeping: Clean under the beds!!
Third, there was neither toilet paper nor even a toilet paper holder in the ladies room in the fitness center. And not for a short time, either. Thankfully there was a box of tissues by the sink.
And finally-- the breakfast buffet would have been better if it had been varied a little from day to day. Every day they served the same bland egg casserole. It needed something to give it more flavor.
All in all, I would probably return. But I'd check under the beds first, this time.

We normally stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Blowing Rock. I was disappointed that the hotel was sold out because the proximity to Appalachian Ski Resort was perfect for our family and it's the hotel we always use when snowboarding. I decided to find an alternate hotel within the same proximity and after reading the reviews on Hotels.com, I booked a standard room with 2 Queen beds at the Meadowbook Inn & Suites. I have never been more pleasantly surprised by a hotel stay in all my travels. This hotel was in the perfect location. One block from Main Street Blowing Rock and only 3 miles from the ski slope. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, sparkling clean, the rooms seemed soundproof, the bedding was heavenly, the breakfast was plentiful, the staff and front desk were extremely helpful. The indoor heated pool and hot tub were a huge plus. We will ALWAYS stay here from now on. We go snowboarding at least 3 times a month so Meadowbrook Inn & Suites, we'll see you again very soon. Thanks for an awesome weekend getaway.

We were looking for a place with indoor pool and hot tub that was walking distance to downtown Blowing Rock and this was our only option. The price was right for a busy season and so we booked (2Q room for 2 adults and a 4 yr old for 3 nights). The hotel is dated decor-wise and has some wear and tear, but it's clean. The rooms are large (there were 3 chairs in addition to our 2 beds) and came with a coffee maker and TV, which was plenty for our family. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our sister came to join us on day 2 of our trip and Adina from housekeeping suggested we see if she was booked in the adjoining room. She was not but mgmt was happy to move her there, so we had adjoining rooms. Adina was fabulous in constantly being sure we were happy with our stay. The breakfast buffet was suitable for a complimentary breakfast. The pool and hot tub were lovely. I've read complaints about the HVAC and my sister in law did state that her room didn't seem to get above 68, but it was FREEZING outside. Nothing that an extra blanket didn't solve.

If you are looking for shiny, new, everything is perfect, then stay at one of the newer, chain hotels. If you want convenience, a clean, comfy room at a good price with staff who will do their best to make your stay great, then this is a great spot. Downtown is literally out the back entrance. We loved being able to walk after being out all day. We will be back to Meadowbrook.

We booked this hotel for a weekend ski trip with my family. We asked for two adjacent rooms that have a pass through door so that the kids can move in and out. This was great until we realized during the first night that our room had no heat. Outside temperature overnight was 5 degrees. Inside temperature never got past 65 degrees. We all migrated to the other adjacent bedroom and cramped in for warmer air. Needless to say we all had a terrible nights sleep. Addressed the problem with management the next morning. They said they fixed the problem upon arriving back from from skiing only to find out that they placed a space heater that stunk up the entire room with a terrible smell. This was their fix!!. The manager decided to address with me after consulting maintenance that if you crank the heat all the way up it will damage the heating system. Huh! Noble thought to blame the guest for the heating issue and my ignorance of placing the thermostat at 74 degrees. To sum it up. We changed one room and was forced to separate our family. To make matters worse, we were offered no consideration of a discount for the stay. WARNING. Stay away.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to review the Meadowbrook Inn. It is very important that guests enjoy their stay at the Meadowbrook Inn. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. I would like to take a few moments to address the concerns in your review.

There was a problem with the heat in your room. This was discovered on the first night of your stay. We did offer to move both rooms across the hall so you would have connecting rooms with properly functioning heat. I understand that this is not what you wanted to do, but it was a viable option.

Maintenance was unable to evaluate the problem, per your direction, until after you left to the ski slopes the next morning. When the unit was finally able to be evaluated, we determined we would need to be replaced. We did bring in a portable unit and left a message to please call us when you returned so we could discuss possible options. Upon your return, we offered to have our staff assist in moving you to another room located directly across the hall from your brother's room. You accepted the offer to change rooms.

We gave you a full refund for your stay before you checked out.

We take complete responsibility for the heat not properly working in your room, but we tried to resolve the problem. Sometimes events happen that are beyond our control, but we take pride in our responsiveness to our guests needs.

We just stayed here for 2 nights new yrs eve. What a cute place. LOVED the room. It was huge and decorated great. Not a typical hotel room. Had a good breakfast and enjoyed feeding the ducks. We were able to walk from hotel all thru downtown.

We spent hours trying to find the perfect hotel in the Boone/Blowing Rock area for 4 adults and 4 teenagers and wow, we hit the jackpot! The rooms were huge and very clean, the staff was outstanding, pool was way bigger (and thankfully warmer) than we expected and the location to downtown was ideal. Bonus- the price was amazing!!! I would HIGHLY recommend staying here- we will be back for sure! Note- the cleaning lady was super sweet and gave us a tour of 2 private suites that have a spiral staircase leading downstairs to a private indoor pool! Very cool!

Room Tip: we stayed in a 2 queen room upstairs at the enf of the hall - very quiet!
