“Sweet Little Dog Friendly Inn Downtown Blowing Rock”
Reviewed 11 July 2010

We were in Blowing Rock over the July 4th weekend and stayed at this sweet little Inn with my dog. Everyone was friendly, the Inn was adorable with the perfect location in downtown, we walked everywhere and enjoyed our stay completely.

The rooms were clean, modest, and just right! Our room was next to the road but the room was still quiet. The breakfast in the morning was more than we expected and the coffee was great.
I would recommend this place highly for value, location, dog friendly, and ammenities!

How wonderful to find that our guests enjoy their stay with us! We are proud to represent two of the very few pet friendly properties in downtown Blowing Rock! We also pride ourselves in our expansive breakfast selection, wine, and other amenities that we are able to offer our guests, free of charge! We look forward to seeing you soon!

We stayed here often in the 1980's when the owners/builders who lived on site worked tirelessly to keep their home/business in top notch condition. The inn remains in an ideal location - walking distance to downtown Blowing Rock. The rooms are small for today's standards. Our room wason the main road but quiet. But, the bath tub didn't drain. Apparently, they were working on it, had caulked it, and drying with a fan but put us in the room any way! The windows were dirty, carpet stained, furniture beat up. Bricks were broken on the outside of the building. It is now a dog friendly motel. We love dogs but not poop in the grass and entry way and barking for $100 a night.

We are so discouraged to find that this guest did not enjoy their stay with us. We maintain very high standards for our product and service quality, and are very disappointed to find that our efforts are not fully appreciated. I can personally ensure that this guest's experience is not typical of any of the Village Inns properties. We are also proud to accept pets in a select portion of our property (although we do keep a selection of guest rooms that are not pet friendly for our guests who prefer not to stay in the same room where a pet has stayed). However, our standards are kept high, requiring an additional fee to cover the additional expense involved in properly cleaning the rooms after each pet stays with us. I can assure anyone reading this review, that each and every one of our guest rooms (including the exterior of the property) was completely renovated 5 years ago, something that had not been done since this particular guest stayed at this property in the 1980's. We are also continually improving our guest rooms, as part of a constant effort to maintain the upscale mountain inn aesthetics of this property. We appreciate all feedback from our guests, as it assists us in maintaining our very high standards. I do, however, wish that this guest had notified us immediately that there was a problem with their room, so we could have remedied the situation before it lead to a less than desirable experience.

We arrived at the Inn and it is the coziest hotel, pet friendly, people friendly. We were greeted upon our arrival by Lisa. She was just the most so friendly and very helpful she told us everything we needed to know upon check in. She suggested many things to do while in the area and she even had direction cards to take us right to our destinations . She also suggested while we were there to take a look at the other 2 properties and we did and just loved them all.
Everyone one of the staff was most helpful and everyone seem to have a smile at all times. The breakfast was the best I think I had ever seen and the wine reception took us by surprise. We are so glad that they brought the wine back.
Great hospitality like that is so hard to find.

We are so encouraged to find that our guests thoroughly enjoy their stay with us! We all love spending time with our guests and making sure that all of their needs are met. Our staff is also educated on area attractions and events so that we can help with any questions guests may have about what to do while in the area. We are also thrilled to be able to serve wine during our afternoon snack reception, completely free of charge! We have also enhanced our breakfast selection recently to include a variety of hot breakfast items. This really is a special place to enjoy a restful vacation! We look forward to seeing you soon!

We visit Blowing Rock in the Spring, Summer and Fall and always stay at the Hillwinds Inn. Hillwinds Inn has very charming and comfortable rooms. The continental breakfast has a huge variety to choose from and the evening wine and cheese social is a very enjoyable time to meet others staying at the Inn. We have always met new friends and acquaintances. The staff and management are always friendly and there to help and serve. The location is excellent as it is a few short blocks from Main St, restaurants, specialty shops and the Main Street benches.

The Hillwinds Inn has such a wonderful location that makes it easy to enjoy all that the town has to offer. We stayed in the Tarheel Suite. The living room furniture was stylish and comfortable. It included a large pillow filled couch and a very relaxing chair and stool. There was a large flat screen ,HD TV, a small gas fireplace and a balcony but no chairs. The suite was equipped with a small refrig with freezer, microwave, sink & storage. The bed was luxurious. There was a second TV in the bedroom along with another cozy chair & stool. There was even a walk in closet with drawers and an ironing area. We were on an 8 day trip. This our favorite stop and the least expensive. I highly recommend the Tarheel Suite for a couple. It is on the second floor and very private.

We love hearing that our guests were able to fully appreciate the beauty and attention to detail that characterizes the rooms at the Hillwinds Inn. People are pleasantly surprised to enter their room or deluxe suite and find a very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Although our property was renovated by a prominent interior designer, the focus was on an atmosphere conducive to comfort and relaxation. We look forward to seeing you soon!

My wife and I visited during Christmas and with the ice storm we had a bad experience. However, Hillwinds management asked us to give them another try and since there was fresh snow, we drove back up to stay four days at the Hillwinds Inn. I can tell you we have a new appreciation of the Inn now, Lisa (one of the property mangers) gave us A1 customer service. The Inn is walking distance to dining and shopping. Since Christmas, we've been to Hillwinds 3 times and plan on doing so again soon.
