“Beautiful views, great service, excellent lodge”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate my birthday. We had never been here before, but it was amazing! The views from the parking lot, dining room, and stone porch are all impressive. The Inn also had a mossy trail you could walk, and the grounds had plenty of little romantic nooks with metal chairs. When we arrived at the Colonial room, there were chocolate-covered strawberries and a small bottle of white wine waiting for us. The bathroom was well designed and came with Aveda bath products. The room also had 2 plush robes and 4 over-sized pillows. The electric fireplace kept us cozy at night, and the porch off of our room and screen windows allowed us to take advantage of the cool breezes during the day. Although the breakfast in the morning wasn't unique (choice of eggs, breakfast meat, toast and grits or pancakes / French toast and breakfast meat), it was substantial and well-seasoned. Every staff member we interacted with was professional, friendly and seemed happy to be there. The Inn also had complimentary beverages (pop, coffee, water) available 24/7 in a pantry area. Rooms don't have TVs, and cellphone service is a bit spotty, so come here expecting to blissfully disconnect from the high-paced world. Overall, highly recommended!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Colonial room, which had a large comfortable King sized bed, electric fireplace, an...

We love this Inn. Definitely will go back !
Excellent service and beautiful rooms. We stayed at the Sunrise suite which is adjacent to the Inn with a separate entrance. Unique. Very private.

My husband and I spent a wonderful night at Gideon Ridge Inn for his birthday recently. The Inn Keeper We stayed in the Victorian room. The beautiful furnishing, fireplaces in the bedroom and bathroom, and the Japanese soaking tub all made for a comfortable stay. All of the rooms are unique and lovely. You really can't go wrong. My favorites are the Victorian (described previously), Old Master (no large tub) but beautiful furnishings, fireplace, and patio, and the Grandfather View and the Sunrise View for the exceptional view. The restaurant, where we enjoyed dinner and breakfast, is top-notch, and it shares the great view.

We would absolutely come back to stay at Gideon Ridge again. The service was fantastic from the minute we arrived. We were greeted by Anne, who was friendly, very honest about the nearby things that we could do and places to eat (which we appreciated), and extremely accomodating. The room itself was very clean, with great amenities such as WiFi, complimentary coffee, and a number of DVDs and games in case we decided to stay in. The view from the room was incredible. To top it off, breakfast in the morning was delicious and again, the service was great.

Excellent romantic winterwonderland, pampered like king and queen. Peaceful sleep and breakfast was wonderful. Chocolate covered strawberries added final little piacere as we say in italian. Snowing evenings and dinner at Bistro Roca was excellent.

We stayed in the Victorian Room and had a wonderful weekend in Blowing Rock and at Gideon Ridge Inn. The bed was a beautifully carved antique with a great mattress and bedding. The en suite bath had a Japanese Soaking Tub and a fireplace! We had a private deck and enjoyed the cool evenings overlooking the grounds. Gideon Ridge feels like home - only better! The staff are wonderful and the breakfast is so tasty. Afternoon tea is wonderful by the fire and sitting out on the back deck wrapped in comforters was lovely. This is our second visit and won't be our last!

Room Tip: Our favorite room (right now) is the Victorian with two gas fireplaces and a soaking tub and shower.
