The pizza and mussels were amazing. Kid friendly with a great menu reasonably priced. Make sure to ask to sit on porch. Will be back.

“Another good restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

This used to be the old Antlers bar, but has been transformed into a very nice restaurant. We had to wait about 15 minutes without reservations, but it was worth it. The bar area is covered in dog pictures to look at while you wait. They have a brick oven used for great pizza and serve various dishes that reflect local traditions -- they even had elk the night we were there. Would recommend this for a comfortable spot to enjoy dinner.

“Semi-casual with exceptional food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

We were looking for a more casual dinner place and had this recommended to us. It was perfect for what we were looking for. It had a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. The three-season room on the back was nice to dine in with the windows open. The food was truly exceptional. The beer selection was great as well.

“They never disappoint!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

We dined here on a Thursday night and loved it, as we always do. My must have dish is the trout, accompanied by creamy grits which are to die for! The mixed berry bread pudding is delish! Don't visit Blowing Rock and miss this jewel hidden off of the beaten path.

“Close to perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

I like excellent food, and especially so in an atmosphere which is fun and relaxing.
I have dinned at Bistro Roca for several years for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed.

Several reason for "close to perfect";
Wide selection from gourmet pizza to superb burgers to fantastic entrees.
Terrific and unusual appetizers
GREAT BAR
Usually very good wait staff
Terrific atmosphere.

Atmosphere: feels like an old hunting lodge, weather permitting outside seating, a paneled Bar area with pictures of dogs ,visiting the bar, lining the walls (they support humane society).

Food: Wide variety, just depends what one is in the mood for. My favorites include calamari appetizer, hummus plate appetizer (just excellent), Habi burger (just outstanding), French style roasted chicken, Black and Blue Ribeye and oddly their homemade ketchup is wonderful.

About the only negatives after an excess of 20 visits are it can be very crowded in season for dinner and when busy, service in the bar area can be spotty.

We often want to try other very good restaurants in the area but alas we opt to return to our favorite.
