I visit Blowing rock a minimum of a couple times a year and when there I visit Bistro Roca nightly even if just for a drink. The food is allways excellent. I enjoy the bar. The bar can get crowded as it is a locals and frequent visitors venue.

Took my wife here for an early anniversary meal after she read such great reviews on tripadvisor. Well folks, you were right again! Ate in the bar area with 1000 dog photos and the service was excellent. Food was suburb! If they offer the grilled pork medallions on a bed of grits and red eye gravy, do NOT miss this offering. The PBLT sounded great too but that is on the menu all the time and the pork is actually hickory smoked as you can smell it a half mile away.

My wife had the lobster roll and it was better than Legal Seafood in Boston's waterfront. Both meals and a couple of ales for less than $50------and we left very happy!

We had the mussels starter. I had the trout and my son had salmon. The dining room is lovely and atmosphere is relaxed but not casual. It's really nice.

Our family dined here over the 4th of July weekend. Nice out of the way of mainstream Blowing Rock as the venue is located in the residential area of BR. Plenty of parking and the restaurant does not open for supper until 5 pm.
We arrived at 5 and were seated promptly. Out service person did a good job with the noted exception that since we did not order off of the wine or alcohol list, we were never asked for a drink order and simply served water in a glass container left on our table.
The food was good but it clearly is one of those dining venues in which they put too much fuss over presentation of the food and not enough to the quality or value of the meal. It was by far our most expensive meal during our nine day trip in which we ate out all meals with the exception of two (2).
The biggest issue with this restaurant is the fact that they simply have too many tables crunched into the space they have for dining. I understand the economics of making the most of your space, but this was way over and above reason. If a private conversation is important, then this is not a good choice. Very tight to the point that is was uncomfortable. Perhaps if only a couple of tables were removed then space would be much improved.
In summary, an expensive dining option that seems to push alcohol first and foremost with a very crowded table spacing problem that served a solid meal quality wise. Too many other really good choices to return and not worthy of the cost to dine.

A great place in Blowing Rock to enjoy some local food. Service and food are consistent. We try to have a least one meal here whenever we are in Blowing Rock. Nice sitting on the porch and relaxing. The restaurant is always busy so I know many others feel the same.
