We stayed at the Homestead Inn for a long weekend in Blowing Rock to get away from the heat - we wanted to bring out small dog, and the Homestead Inn was just what we needed. A block from Main Street in downtown Blowing Rock and extremely pet friendly - only $10/day extra for pets. Very nice place, clean, and quiet. We stayed in a cottage room across the street from the motel units - very spacious and lots of privacy. Motel staff is very helpful.

From the moment we rang the little bell for service, the owner himself was there to aid and help us with every little thing. He even made tea for my mother.
They know all the places to go if you want hiking or shopping or sighseeing or food and drink and Ice Cream, and will even draw you a map.
The location is a simple walk to main street in town, and my 80 yr old mom walked it often with no trouble.
Very quiet with lovely decorations, inside and out. Room has a beautiful cottage feel with plenty of space for at home comfort. TV with DVD and free wireless internet access too. Outside there's lots of various seating spots in cozy flower filled shady places, and each room has chairs and table under the covered sidewalk.

Room Tip: They allow pets, and you'd think they loved ours as much as their own.

Went there for my 50th birthday with my wife and four other couples. We had a great time in Blowing Rock and Caroline pretty much walked us through the whole week-end. We stayed in the cottage across the street with two of the other couples. The place is a perfect hang-out when you have a group like we did. One of the bedrooms in the cottage has a small bathroom much like a dorm or something so this is just a "heads up". The friends who used that side were fine with it but just so you'll know. We also had the two other couples that stayed in the rooms on the same side of the office and those were ultra cool. In short, we will go back to Blowing Rock because it's a cool week-end place to go. We would definitely go back to the Homestead Inn because it's a good place with a GREAT family running it. Go to The Village Cafe for breakfast and Bloody Marys. OMG!

Stayed for 4 nites during Mitford Festival - Small place - has all the conveniences - not a cookie cutter inn, an oldie but a goodie, with HIGH value for the dollar - - we had many in our group staying there, and enjoyed the front yard. The main street of Blowing Rock is literally about 100 ft away - - about half of our fun was walking rather than having to drive - - there is a range of room sizes, so ask, they were honest with us - - all rooms were well-equipped, clean, and comfortable - some large with fireplaces for those skiers coming to town - - even had WiFi for guests and flat screen tv's - - in the summer, you'll find flowers and rocking chairs and swings - - they even put out lemonade for guests after lunch - - Family run place with a great atmosphere

My wife and I booked the trip basically for the kids. They were wanting to go to tweetsie railroad, and the gem mine. As we were shopping online looking at the reviews on trip advisor this place caught my eye. The reviews were excellent and the rates blew my mind. I gave them a call and had a very nice conversation with the owner Caroline. She was very helpful in the room selection process. I decided to stay in room eight. It was very clean and extra large. We also booked room seven for my two kids. They each got their own bed and flat screen TV. This made my wife and i very happy. They had hot coffee and teas every morning we were there. The layout of the property was amazing, and the owners just made it better. I plan on staying here again.

Stayed at the Homestead Inn from 5/20 to 5/22. Our room was equipped with a king bed and jacuzzi. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the room was a good size for the furniture. It is an ideal place to take advantage of the shops and restaurants in Blowing Rock. The inn is closer to one end of the downtown area but it is only roughly a ten minute walk from one end to the other. From the reviews there are different size rooms, so I can only recommend the king and single jacuzzi.
