Had dinner Sunday night and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The food was very good. We shared the Tuna appetizer, each had a salad both were fresh with nice house-made dressings. For the main course my wifebhadbthe scallops, I had a filet. Both were well-prepared and served hot.

The best part was the location. We sat outdoors on a deck overlooking the lake at sunset.

I am sorry that I cannot rate this restaurant higher. We ate there twice during the week we stayed at a condo in Chetola (which was very good). On May 21,2014 we decided to have "steak on the lake". We had the concierge make our reservation. When we arrived at the restaurant they did not have our reservation, but they had plenty of room for us; You can sit outdoors and enjoy a view of their lovely lake. It was a little cool and windy so we ate inside. We ordered steak "medium rare". It came out medium well. We did not care for their vegetable choice of potatoes with blue cheese so we ordered something else. When it came, sure enough, it was the potatoes with blue cheese. The service was a little slow and the meal, I am sorry to say, was somewhat disappointing. The atmosphere was good, but there are better places to eat in Blowing Rock.

Enjoyed the atmosphere -- had dinner outside around an open fire pit and the view is gorgeous. Had local quail, small but tasteful. Bob Timberlake's pictures hang all over the inside of the restaurant (he's a N.C. artist) and the overall view effect is great.

We went to dinner one night and had some suggestions on the dinner that we had eaten. The food and beverage manager met with us and it was clear when we returned several nights later that the feedback had been incorporated. The second dinner that we had was wonderful. Not only was the food excellent but the presentation was also pretty. For an appetizer we had seared tuna on kale slaw. It was a huge portion. Even two of us were only able to eat half of the appetizer without fearing that we would fill up before our meal, so we brought the rest home. For our main course, we had duck with cranberry sauce and a pork dish. The peach cobbler was outstanding. They even used Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream (rated number 1 by Consumer Reports) for the topping. A lovely setting, overlooking the grounds. The pricing was comparable to any top restaurant in the area. There is a good wine list and you can bring your own wine for a $15 corkage fee. But the wine was reasonably priced and we actually did much better by ordering off their menu. Dress is business casual for dinner. We would definitely look forward to returning.

We ate dinner here twice on out trip to CHETOLA. The staff are more than willing to make changes to the menu items. The food was quite good . On Friday there was a band in the bar which made the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely put this restaurant on your list!
