Not hapy with this place at all. Although the staff were friendly they were far from sincere. I think they thought if they smiled they could get away with being less than accommodating. I called the week before asking if we could make sure we were on the first floor. The girl said just to put it in the comment box online and it would be no problem. That is what i did. On check-in, which took almost an hour because our room was not ready and she forgot to call housekeeping, they put us on the second floor at almost the other end of the hallway. The explanation was we wanted an executive room. I explained how important it was to have a first floor room. My 13 year old dog who was recovering from surgery had to walk down the hall, wait for an elevator, out the lobby doors then half way down the driveway to get to the "pet friendly" area. This was nonsense. When we woke up we took the dog for a walk at 8:30 only to asked by housekeeping if we were leaving for good. We said no check out was at 11. Then at 10:30 she had the nerve to knock on the door to see if we were leaving. SHe said they told her we already left. I do not know what she was in such a hurry for because the cleanliness of the place was not the best. The only reason i did not rate it terrible is that they do not have a pet fee. If we had to do it again i would rather stay somewhere else and pay the fee. We have reservations with LaQuinta in another city next month and are debating if we should even bother. What was to be a nice relaxing weekend in a beautiful little town turned out to only add more stress.

We arrived later at night, the night clerk was nice, but not very knowledgable of the area. When we got in our room it was to discover a below average room. The faucet was broke on the hot water side. (When they "fixed" the faucet it broke again a couple days later.)One of the knobs was broke on the dresser. The carpet was dingy and had all kinds of scary spots on them. We were right above the lobby at the top of the stairs next to the elevator. Very loud with people coming and going and dogs barking. The walls are very thin so we heard most of the conversations in the room next door . The breakfast was very blah and not very many options, but they do have a nice area to eat in indoors and out. The exterior of the hotel is very beautiful and peaceful even though it is in a very busy section of Boone. Be warned THERE IS LITTLE TO NO PARKING WHEN YOU COME IN AT NIGHT. There is a sister hotel there also and they only have a small parking lot for two hotels. The guest laundry is on the third floor with one washer and one dryer that was small and dirtyish. They really need to update this. Voiced most of my complaints at the front desk as I was checking out he just shrugged and said sorry. We stayed for over a week.

We selected this hotel because it was ranked #2 on Tripadvisor. It must be all the pet lovers that gave it that good of a review, because it is really not that good. Our room had an odour that smelled like a stale vacuum cleaner, but the smell lasted all night. Our towels were heavily stained. I am not saying they weren't clean, they probably went through the laundry but the stains made them revolting. They should be removed from service and used for waxing the car! Staff did change them when asked. The air conditioner was right beside the bed and was so loud that we could not run it and be expected the sleep at the same time. The room was huge. Hotel mgmt should simply switch the living room seating area with the bed area, moving the bed away from the air conditioner. The breakfast was poor. The only hot choice was the traditional motel hot waffle machine, or putting hot water in a bowl with oatmeal. Abby, the desk clerk when we checked in, was awesome. But get her some help! We checked in at about 5, and came back from supper at about 8; Abby never had a line up shorter than 3 people any time we saw her.

Had to leave the Best Western in banner Elk due to a lieing GM. Found solice atb the Front desk. WONDERFUL STAFF...DOWN TO THE HOUSEKEEPER. They even gave me a heart shaped jacuzzi that was fun to take a pic of but as I was bunking with my dog. ....i had no use for. Their commercials speak the truth. Nice hotel!

I wanted to give 5 stars because I appreciated several aspects of this hotel-dogs allowed, almost all employees were very helpful and friendly. Things appeared mostly clean although there was mold in shower stall. The linens and furniture were a bit shabby. Breakfast was definitely blah. The deluxe 2 queen suite was great for our party.

Room Tip: For dogs owners-lower level, toward side exit for night time walking, not on front side of hotel
