Really had a wonderful time at Deerewood, very peaceful and serene setting. The owners are some of the friendliest people you could hope to meet. We were treated to some great music by Matt and Andy on Saturday night. We understand that Matt plays in a band known as Jupiter Coyote, and we will certainly be following for updates. Very impressed with the ecological aspects of Deerewood, lots of TLC went into this place. It's apparent that the owners are very environmentally conscious, something that my husband and I appreciate very much. We
plan to visit again, and will be looking forward to hearing more music. Lots to do in Brevard as well, DuPont Forest is a must see.

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway Deerwoode is the place. Matt is very accomodating and made us feel welcomed. We enjoyed listening to him and Andy play Saturday night at the lodge. The River Cabin was perfect, we kayaked 9 miles on the French Broad River and exited right at our cabin. We will definitely be returning.

We found this delightful place on the internet and decided to spend a week after talking to Matt. The owners, Matt, Bill and Andy, are absolutely the nicest folks you will ever meet. They provided my husband with fishing poles so that he could take advantage of the beautiful pond and river; made sure that we had everything that we needed to make this vacation enjoyable; recommended places to eat in Brevard; and in general showed hospitality at its best. There is a mountain to climb on the property and paths to take for walking. You are about 5 minutes from downtown Brevard where there are the best restaurants and nice shopping. What we enjoyed the most is that you are about 15 minutes from National Forests where there are over 240 waterfalls. We went to Pigsah and Dupont Forest where we did a lot of hiking and picture taking. We recommend Deerwoode as a wonderful place to spend your vacation.

Room Tip: We stayed in Bear Cabin. It is roomy and nice with a sitting area with a fire place and a sleeping...

This was as close to perfection one could ever get. Accommodations are very comfortable and the owner and his family go out of their way to make each guest feel right at home. The lodge is located very close to many "must see" places including Pretty Place, an outdoor chapel with a view looking out over many miles. And while at the lodge there are plenty of activities to keep your group entertained. For such a small town, Brevard has a host of good eating places and more night life than one would expect. I highly recommend Deerwoode Lodge !

Room Tip: Actually any room in the Lodge is great.

Our group of 10 stayed at Deerwoode Resort for a mini-reunion of friends from High School on May 25 - 27. Manager Matt Mayes worked with me via phone and we took the main lodge - Coyote Lodge - for 4 of our needed 5 rooms and the cabin right next door to the lodge for the 5th accommodation. Coyote Lodge has a huge open area downstairs with a beautiful working fireplace with rocking chairs surrounding it, plenty of tables for dining, a kitchen and the 4 individual rooms with individual baths for each - two upstairs and two downstairs. There is also a front porch with plenty of seating. The Mayes family could not have been more accommodating ~ they are multi-talented, love their resort and pride of ownership is apparent. Matt greeted all and made us all feel so welcome - in addition he made fires for us in the huge fireplace downstairs in the lodge.

Matt and his brother, Andy, play music and sing in a kind of spontaneous jamming often on weekends. Our stay was on Memorial Day weekend, so they played on Saturday night outside the huge gym and game room building (another benefit which we used) and some of their friends were invited. Matt invited one member of our group to bring his guitar and he joined in with them. Deerwoode is such a serene rustic beautiful resort on 175 acres on which the family continues to reside. Matt's Dad and Mom built the lodge and many touches of art are in the cabins by Matt's Mom. The resort is a true gem in the North Carolina mountains. All in our group were very happy with our accommodations and we would definitely stay here again - equal to the lodging is Matt's professional, warm outstanding service. What a terrific place for our small group of good friends to reunite!

Room Tip: If your group includes eight people, the Coyote Lodge can be taken for your group only and the great...

Wife and I stayed here for 5 nights, June 3-7, 2013. We took the River Cabin, which is the smallest and least expensive. It was very clean and cozy, and sat right on the French Broad River. The river itself is only about 25 feet wide at this spot, but the current moves pretty good.

This property is about 175 acres, and has several cabins, a cool lodge, and a bunch of walking trails. It's very quiet and peaceful, but only about 5 minutes from downtown. It's run by Matt and Andrew Mayes, who are the sons of owner Bill and Liz. They were all very welcoming and friendly. You absolutely have to meet Bill and get his story. It will change the way you look at your own life, I guarantee. This place used to be a boys camp, but now Bill runs part of it as a senior fitness center, so he's got a big gym with a lot of workout equipment in it, some of which he built himself. By the way, he built most of the cabins himself too. The whole family lives on the property too.

We were lucky enough to be there on a Friday night when Matt and Andrew put on a music show for the guests. They both sing and play guitar, and they had a buddy there who plays a killer harmonica. They don't do this every weekend, so if you go, be sure to try and schedule your trip on a music weekend.

We quit using chain hotels a long time ago. When visiting Brevard, this is the place to stay!

My husband and I recently stayed at deerwoode. This is our third trip. It is such a beautiful place. If you just want to get away from the kids and everyday routine, this is the place to visit. Also, this is a great place to fish. Six or seven ponds and one huge lake. We have always caught something. Bass, crappie.etc. We catch and release. Bill and his two sons Matt and Andy are great guys. We will continue to visit Deerwoode when we can. Hope you will also. Brad and Cherri
