“Great home base for outdoor excursions!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

We stayed in Cabin 41 for a week with our 3 children. It made a great home base for all of our activities. It is close to numerous rivers and Fontana Lake. Tons of outdoor activities within 30 minutes. Management and service personnel were extremely kind and helpful even in the planing stages of our vacation. On-site horseback riding and pool were both great. Cabin was clean and not too close to other guests. Overall, we had a great experience.

Our Treehouse cabin was nice, run down with rust all over the refrigerator and limited kitchen utensils. The bathroom was only open to the bedrooms, so the people on the pullout sofa had to go through a bedroom (which made it fun with our son's girlfriend in one bedroom. About the only thing they keep up was the foosball table in the cabin.

Mouse poop under the sofa was a turn off, only Wi-Fi is at the main building.

Thank you for your review. We post the floor plans of our different lodging styles on our website to give a better picture of what the accommodations are like. The treehouses are simple and can accommodate a group, but there is only one bathroom.

Staff was excellent and helpful. The food at the Bistro was amazing and fresh. I had beet salad, ahi tuna, my husband has ribeye and salmon. He said the steak melted in his mouth, my food was top notch and our waiter was excellent.
We stayed in cabin #45, it was adequate for my husband and I. Love seat, TV with satellite, small table in main room. Bedroom had king bed (not hard or soft), a dresser. Very tiny bathroom, my husband had trouble in the shower, as he has broad shoulders, enough room to turn around in front of toilet. Kitchen was fine, I suggest taking good sharp knives and anything special you might need. Our cabin was very dark and lacked good lighting.
Wi-Fi is only available in the lodge. There are not many plugs in the cabins, no CPAP use because there was no plug or table near the bed. The pool was clean, game room had old equipment. They do have a huge shelter that we held our cookout for our family reunion under. No fishing on site and no bike rentals. It is located between Bryson City and Nantahayla Outdoor Center. It was quiet and peaceful. We would have preferred a better equipped, more updated cabin, but that is our personal preference.

Room Tip: Cabin 45 had hot tub, 48 was bigger, brighter and had a foosball table. cabins 42 & 43 were bigg...

Thank you for your review and suggestions. Cabin 45 is in our historic group as this property has been a resort since 1947 and some of our cabins date back to the 50's . We do have larger and newer lodging options that you might want to consider next time - like a Fireplace Suite if it's just the two of you. We purposely choose to have "old school" games in the Game Room as kids and families these days spend enough time in front of electronic devices. Our air hockey, ping pong and fooseball games give families an opportunity to interact with each other.

The treehouse cabin was average at best. The Village Bistro was a good place to eat after a day of exploring. I might go back to eat but I doubt that I would stay there again for that price. There are too many other options with better rates in the area.

So glad you enjoyed the Village Bistro. The Treehouse Cottages are basic and great for families as you can see from other guest reviews. Perhaps you should consider one of our other types of lodging next time.

This was our first experience in the mountains and a cabin. We stayed on Treehouse Cabin 48. It was the perfect size for our family of 5. It was clean and comfortable. Besides a little musty smell in the kitchen, we have no complaints. Our room was well stocked with items to use in the kitchenette and we were provided with plenty of soft towels in the bathroom. We especially enjoyed the foosball table. It was pretty rainy during our weekend visit, but the location was perfect to slip away to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, or Asheville for the day. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your review. We're so glad that you enjoyed Treehouse #48. The Treehouse Cottages are great for families which is why we have bunk beds and Foosball tables. There are many short day trips for family enjoyment even on rainy days - so glad you found some and we look forward to having you stay with us again.

The staff was amazing and so very helpful in many unexpected ways. They went far above what we were expecting. There were nearly 100 members of our family and they treated us like they were part of our family as well. Providing us with a fire pit multiple times and a huge grill to cook on so we could all be together for dinner. Great job by everyone!!!! I would highly recommend Nantahala Village to everyone. We will be returning soon. Thank you again to the entire staff.

Room Tip: We rented a Tree house Cabin and absolutely loved everything about it.

We stayed in the fireplace suite #16 this past week for 3 nights. Great views overlooking the property which is huge. Balcony fireplace and hot tub. Fireplace in the suite also. Comfortable king bed, not so much with the sofa bed upstairs in the loft. Plenty of activities within the property that we just did not have the time to do. There are a few items that could be improved to make this the premier spot in this area. There are just so many things that are right about this place. Will definitely come back.

Thank you for your review. We hope you will return to enjoy the many fun things to do on the property like horseback riding, and in our area like whitewater rafting and ziplining. And, of course, Nantahala Village is just a great place to relax. Especially in the fireplace suites that provide plenty of room and extra comfort of hot tub and fireplaces.
