This was the first time that we stayed at a Microtel. It was clean and the staff were nice. But just about everything was "micro." Micro room, micro towels, micro soap... no refrigerator, no "micro"wave. Micro space to eat breakfast. One thing that wasn't "micro" was the pet fee of $25!! But there wasn't much space in the "micro" room for our 30 lb. dog. Biker friendly. There was a sign in elevator that they provide rags to wipe down motorcycles. (But I don't know if they were "micro" rags, because we aren't bikers.) Quiet location.

We spent five days at this Microtel and would go back in a heartbeat. The hotel has easy access to Bryson City and Hwy 74, and the entire staff was courteous and helpful. They even provided us with a place to store our bicycles. Both desk clerks that we dealt with went out of their way to assist us, but Tanya in particular provided us with a wealth of information on restaurants, outdoor locations to explore, and local history of this charming town, always with a friendly smile. The rooms were clean and had a clean feel to them, as did the entire hotel. The hotel sits on a hill, and during the summer, the parking lot offers a spectacular view of the sun setting behind a mountain. An asset that should be capitalized on with benches or a sitting area.

My one complaint (which I didn't voice) was the breakfast. If you're wheat intolerant or need gluten free, plan on eating elsewhere. But a clean hotel with exceptional customer service and easy access--and a great sunset--is worth the minor inconvenience.

Beautiful location very close to Bryson City, NC. Service was great. Breakfast was good. Room was clean and air-conditioning was cold. Our only complaint was the tiny shampoo packets and slivers of soap.
