We stayed for a weekend in the Prairie Suite, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It was so relaxing and Ed was very accommodating. We went hiking in Deep Creek and enjoyed dinner at Jimmy Mac's. The Calhoun House is very close to downtown Bryson City, so we enjoyed being able to walk to the downtown area and explore the town. The suite was excellent, Very comfortable bed, big suite for a great price, and we were able to bring our dog with us, which can be a difficult combination to find. We would love to come back and stay here again!

Room Tip: Prairie Suite has a fireplace :)

My husband and I stayed in the Movie Gallery Suite for three nights in mid October, and it was just beyond wonderful! The suite is so comfortable, and the owners stocked it with cereal, milk, hot cocoa, and other snacks and treats making it feel extra home-y. It is a historic building that has been beautifully restored and furnished with an obvious sense of care and love. It was immaculately clean. The location is perfect - the porch has a beautiful mountain view you can enjoy from rocking chairs, and it's an easy walk to restaurants and stores in Bryson City. While we were there, we did the "raft n' rail adventure" on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, which I highly recommend. We also did some hiking in the Deep Creek area of the National Park; it was lovely and uncrowded. We drove the Road to Nowhere and hiked some of the trails and explored the tunnel, which was also fun. Overall, Calhoun House Inn & Suites is a perfect place to relax and have fun!

Thank you for the great review. I enjoyed meeting you both while you were here. I hope your home was unaffected by the terrible storm that just came through your area. If we can be of any help, please let us know.

Tucked away on a hillside in Bryson City, it is within easy (5-10 min) walking distance of the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, shopping, and eating. It also makes a nice base for traveling in that region (Cherokee, Blue Ridge Parkway, ect.) The Hosts were helpful and pleasant, and we would be happy to stay there again.

We chose the Calhoun house because it had good reviews and we like the theme suites. We stayed in the Prairie Suite and it was wonderful. The suite was exceptionally clean, it had a jacuzzi tub, king bed and dvd player with both tv's. The kitchen had all the pots, pans and dishes you could need and they even provided a few beverages and snacks for our arrival. It was nice to not have to deal with check-in or out, we were emailed excellent directions and the passcode to our room lock. We went for our anniversary and are planning to return next year!

Room Tip: Look at the pictures of the themes in the suites to select the best for you. We heard very little no...

Beautifully decorated theme room (we stayed in "The Toy Box") with a full kitchen in an old restored hotel was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The centrally located inn is close to hiking (Smoky Mountains), biking, and rafting. We arrived to an immaculate room with a refrigerator stocked with water, juice, and milk along with breakfast foods and snacks in the kitchen. The hospitality of Ed (one of the owners) was super; he allowed us to keep our bikes in the garage during our visit, and was very helpful with suggestions about restaurants and places to see. Evenings were spent on the front porch in a rocking chair with a glass of wine watching the sun set in the mountains. We frequently visit this area and can not wait to spend another vacation at the Calhoun House. Do not pass up a chance to stay here.

The perfect place to stay! We loved the themes of the suites. Nicely decorated, so comfortable and very, very clean. The breakfast foods and snacks were very much appreciated. We found the location great for touring in our Corvettes. Every day was busy with the Biltmore, Unto These Hills, Wheels Thru Time, Cade's Cove, Great Smoky Mountain Train Ride, Deals Gap (tail of the dragon), shopping in Cherokee and Bryson City and even took some hikes to see waterfalls. A real highlight was coming back to our "home" and enjoying an evening on the porch watching the Smoky Mountains and enjoying the fellowship with the Ciociola family. Thanks for your suggestions on places to go and things to do. A vacation the "Corvette Club" wil never forget!
