My husband and 15 yr old son did a bit of whining when I suggested we try pottery class... Well, they ended up having a great time and we called and booked a second class before we had to leave. Elise is an excellent instructor (great sense of humor) and does beautiful work. It was fascinating to see how a lump of clay can be transformed on a pottery wheel. Between the three of us, we made a leaf dish, 6 sided bowl, 8 sided bowl, then mugs, cups, bowls on the pottery wheel. Elise explained how everything worked and how she "revived" leftover clay. Our visits to Pincu Pottery were a great addition to our vacation and we intend to return next year :)

Our family had a reunion in Whittier and I contacted Elise--owner of Pincu---about a class. She promptly returned my email and had a time available for a private class for seven ladies. She is incredibly patient and fun and vivacious. She had moist clay set out for us upon our arrival and we could choose to make an item of our choice. It took us a LONG time to decide (we are women....) Elise has all sorts of items to make designs and patterns in the clay--a fresh leaf, an onion bag, etc. She then taught each of us how to use the pottery wheel. One of our party had a finger injury and also doesn't think she's very creative but Elise was so encouraging and helpful to her. We all came away very happy with our creative efforts. I can't wait to go back!

Such a great experience! My boyfriend and I were visiting from Florida and wanted a unique and creative experience while in the Bryson City/Almond area. Overall, great studio and gallery. Elise was funny with a good sense of humor and made our private class extra special. Friday nights you can schedule a 2 hour evening class with wine included! We spent one hour learning and making our own pottery pieces by hand and the second hour making either bowls or cups on the wheel. Learned a lot about creating pottery. At the end we selected colors for glazing and not only will Elise glaze them and fire them up for us, but she also ships if needed.

Very talented instructor. Encouraged everyone to find their own way to be creative. Great balance between instruction and letting you play on your own.

We had made our appointment with Elise from the reviews on TripAdvisor. We had a BLAST! When we arrived she had everything ready and before we knew it we were creating our very own pottery. My teenage boys had so much fun and they created great keepsakes with Elises' help. She shipped the pottery to us and when it arrived we all gathered like kids opening up Christmas gifts! It's a great value and an awesome unique activity to do when in the area.
