“Beautiful cabin with creek and mountain views!”
Reviewed 20 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We definitely recommend Fox Run! To us you have the best of both worlds, a heavily flowing creek running through the property and views of the mountains with beautiful sunsets. The cabin is more spacious than the pictures show and one of the cleanest ones we have been in. The owner was very accommodating and making sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely go back!

“Awesome Mountain Cabin!”
Reviewed 13 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

This was our first trip to the Great Smokey Mountains and we really wanted to experience the fall colors and beautiful mountain views so we picked this cabin and WOW...very happy we did. We drove from south Florida; a very long drive at that and despite our attempt to make it there in daylight, we arrived in the evening (don't recommend that) which made it a little challenging finding the cabin at night. Road leading up to the cabin is as previous reviewers have commented, a climbing gravel road but with the right vehicle not a big deal and crossing the creek at night was a little adventure. :) However waking up the next morning to a spectacular view made it all worth it. First off this cabin is really pretty; the pictures don't do it justice. I love the natural wood used throughout the cabin including the beautiful wood floors except in the master bedroom which has carpet. Side note: Carpet, albeit clean, does has a couple of stains and would benefit from replacing with new carpet or wood floors to improve its appearance. Still a wonderful cabin, nonetheless. The cabin comes with everything you need, especially in the kitchen and even detergent for the laundry, and wifi. The only thing it didn't have which was a minor issue for me was a hair dryer, so bring your own if you need one. I have really long hair and didn't want to be out in the cold with wet hair. I typically bring my own but this time I didn't and I had to make do without it. Not a big deal.

Location: The cabin is situated in the middle of beautiful and colorful mountains and a heavenly creek running down the side of the property. I especially liked listening to the creek at bedtime; our very own white noise. :) There is also a very nice waterfall near the cabin which we hiked with the little map provide by Donnie (owner). It's not an easy hike given it's steepness and narrow trail but once you make it up you'll enjoy the view. Make sure to have proper hiking shoes and trekking sticks; it'll make the climb easier. There's also another Falls nearby, Alarka Falls, but unfortunately we didn't get to see it; definitely next time.

Weather: We went in mid October so we were fortunate to have really great weather (50's-60's) while there and it allowed us to do some nice trails in the Great Smokeys and the Nantahala Forrest. We were able to enjoy the fall colors on the leaves along with the beautiful weather. :) We also did the train ride and museum and the auto scenic road tours. Great time of year to go!

Food: We ventured daily to nearby Bryson City for either breakfast or dinner or both. We also shopped at the Ingles grocery store for some snacks and quick breakfast items. We especially enjoyed eating at the Cork & Bean restaurant. Everything on the menu (not sure about the wine) is organic and very tasty. Needless to say, it became our favorite spot in town. We also ate at an Italian place (Pasqualino's) - a nightmare experience and we DON"T recommend at all... suffice to say we found a roach in the take out box so the leftovers and box stayed with the restaurant; a very disturbing experience. We also ate at Guayabitos Mexican restaurant where the food was good but the service was okay. They also have the typical fast food restaurants so many food options for all.

Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed every day there. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Our furry kids enjoyed themselves too. Donnie was very helpful and responsive to our questions and needs. We look forward to returning soon.

You were wonderful guests and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We will definitely look into that carpet stain and we may replace it or go back with the cherry hardwoods. We will also look into providing a hair dryer in the future. Your furry children are very beautiful and we welcome all of you back anytime! Thank-You so much for that very detailed review as I'm sure future guests will find it very helpful.

“Mountaintop paradise”

We rented this home for our family which consists of two hard to please daughters ages 11 and 16 along with my husband and myself. The drive for south Florida was quite tiresome so we were a bit delirious as we reached the last 1/2 mile up the mountain to this cabin.
I believe that others have mentioned this before but the last 500 feet can scare city folk like myself! At one point you have to travel up a steep incline until you reach a small, one way , gravel road. We were in a Dodge Caravan which did the job but I will still a bit scared as at certain points you can't see what's coming down the hill. However I must add that during our 8 day stay we had no issues with any other cars coming down while we were going up. Anyways once you reach the top of the mountain you have to cross a very small creek, maybe 3 to 6 inches at the most, until you reach Fox Run. The cabin is situated beautifully among the mountains and is very quiet at night and during the day. My brother rented the cabin behind the creek so it was fun walking there everyday.
The property has blackberry and blueberry bushes bordering the property as well as a few mature trees that the wildlife seem to love. The creek made a beautiful noise and was really heavenly . The only downfall on the entire property was the yellow jacket nests that seemed to be everywhere so we just tried to stay clear of them.
The cabin was very clean and had everything we could possibly need for a week or longer.
We enjoyed daily walks around the mountain but unfortunately we were unable to climb to the waterfall, maybe next time.
While in Bryson City we went on a train ride, water rafting , zip lined, hiked, gem mined, viewed waterfalls and took a drive to Harrahs Casino in Cherokee and the Biltmore.
The cabin was located close to the interstate and downtown.
I did contact the owner for a few questions and he was very helpful and accommodating and probably one of the most attentive owners we have encountered.
We will miss the paparazzi that visited us each nigh(the fireflies).
Thank you for sharing your home with us. We will be back soon :)

“Our Favorite Vacation Place”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

This is our second stay at Fox Run Cabin and it was just as amazing and beautiful as last year. This is the place to come if you just want to disconnect from the hectic every day life and appreciate the stunning surroundings this cabin has to offer. Nothing but peacefulness and serenity. There is also many wonderful activities to do in the area like horseback riding, ziplining, Deep Creek tubing, and of course, hiking the many various trails throughput the Smokey Mt. National State Park ( many include awesome waterfalls). If you are able to, don't forget the amazing waterfall near the cabin! It's about 1/2 mile and although a bit steep and a little rough getting there, it is worth the effort once you see it. The best part, it's totally private! The owners, Donnie and Brenda, are the most kind and helpful people you will deal with. They are so quick and responsive to any of your questions or needs. Enjoy it as much as we did. You can't go wrong with this special place. :-)

“Beautiful, serene, a little bit of heaven!”
Reviewed 2 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Fox Run. It is tucked away in the hills and we loved the sound of the rushing water from the nearby stream.

We did the hike to the waterfall and it was beautiful but it isn't a hike for the faint-hearted or casual walker. It had rained recently so it made the hike more challenging, but it was beautiful!

Liked best: The beautiful location.
Liked least: The neighbors barking dogs. I would like to know if they were friendly. I was concerned about walking down the road when I saw that one of them was a doberman.

This is a beautiful cabin located about 20 minutes outside of Bryson City. My husband and I are Florida natives not used to North Carolina's curvy mountain roads. That being said this property is up a mountain road with the last few feet gravel roads, and after crossing a small creek you see the cabin. The cabin has everything you need from a hot tub overlooking a small waterfall to a fire pit for roasting marshmallows. My favorite part was watching the hummingbirds visit in the morning. There are a few cabins nearby but because of the trees you feel very secluded. Donnie, the owner, was always very helpful with whatever questions we had before or during our stay. If you are looking for a secluded cabin with beautiful views, this is the place!!
