“Hidden Gem for History Buffs!”

I don't even know where to start with this one.

Tim Hall, who runs The Storytelling Center, is so very welcoming and invites everyone to "sit a spell". We went in just this past weekend and he has several displays setup from different periods in history, with items from that particular time. He told us the story of "Popcorn" Sutton, a moonshiner from Bryson City. Wow. What an interesting story. I could've stayed much longer but a 1 year old gets rather antsy. Go visit him and enjoy a story or two.

“A treasure”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

We had heard that Bryson City was a lovely small town with wonderful restaurants and stores. On a recent trip to Asheville, North Carolina we stopped to have lunch and wander around town. The Storytelling Center was a wonderful surprise to find. It has a section of the Center that is set up like a museum with wonderful displays of different aspects of Appalachian time periods. It only takes a minute to understand the care that went into the details of the displays. Tim, the Storyteller, is a wealth of information about everything in his Center and the mountains. I would caution visitors about one thing though - don't go in if you are in a hurry. You will be upset at the thought of leaving. You will want to "sit for a spell" and have the Storyteller entertain you with stories about everything and anything. Children of all ages (adults included) will be mesmerized by his weaving of tales. I will be visiting again in the Spring and will be bringing friends to share in the Storytelling!
