Lands Creek Log Cabins
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 14 April 2009

My wife gifted me with a place to get away for an evening. She found Land's Creek on the internet and decided to give it a shot. We were so surprised when we arrived. It is a beautiful property. Normally pictures of the property give you the best they have and it doesn't always meet expectations when you see the reality. That is not the case with Land's Creek. It was more beautiful than we expected. Each log cabin has its own character and own integrity of space such that they are not crowded together as in other places. Robin, the owner, was tremendous to work with and personally showed us our place. We stayed in Lost Moose. It was one of the woods cabins (the others being creek and mountain ridge). It was nestled in the woods but you could still hear the creek. Other cabins are around from a distance so you still feel secluded. It was very clean and has a new log cabin feel and smell. We enjoyed the hot tub (that is not shown in their promo picture) on the screened in porch. Being able to have a campfire was a plus for us. Robin even supplies wood for you to use. The loft is on the small side so you will want to know that going in. That could make it fun but it could get cramped if it is used for a long period of time. I cannot say enough positive about Land's Creek. We were only sad that we could stay one night. We hope to got back for a longer time. It was too nice for just one night.

We have stayed in 3 different cabins each winter 3 years in a row. Every visit and every cabin have been nice and always exceeds expectations. This is the best place to stay in the area. Lots of nice hiking nearby plus the Polar Express train.

We were looking for a place to get away from all the commercial Christmas hustle and bustle so we decided to try out the cabins at Lands Creek. Our cabin was decorated and had a nice little christmas tree as promised.

We got there later than we planned so we didnt see how gorgeous it was outside until the next morning. I knew right away when i could hear the creek from our bedroom i was going to love the place.

The next morning we couldn't wait to get out and explore the area. The grounds couldnt have been more beautiful. They were so clean and well maintained.

We picked cabins to be away from people, have privacy and rough it slightly. We got exactly what we wanted. We cooked breakfast in the mornings and hotdogs and smores over our campfire at night. Our hosts were friendly but also made us feel like we had the place to ourselves.

The kids loved the loft and my teenage daughter (who actually enjoyed herslef) had a place to get away from her little brother when she needed to.

We were close to everything and suprised at how much there was to do and our trip came in way under our budget. We actually went for the polar express train but the cabins were the highlight of our trip.

We plan to come back in the warmer months to be able to do some rafting on the river and go fishing. This time i need at least a week : )

My cell phone didnt get reception in our cabin, but that was just a bonus for me.

We loved these cabins! We stayed in the Owl's Roost and it was wonderful and relaxing! We loved just sitting on the porch and also made good use of the fire pit. My husband actually caught dinner in the little creek running through the property and cooked the trout for us. Robin was a great host. We had everything we needed during our stay. If I had to come up with any negatives I would have to say we didn't realize (from the website pictures and description) that the sleeping loft was so tiny - the kids could barely sit up without hitting their heads! They didn't complain so it wasn't really a big deal.

The reason you go to the mountains is to see the fall foilage change colors and to experience the great outdoors. If you are a city girl like me, you don't want to go too far off the deep end. I suggest you stay at Lands Creek Log Cabins. We took our motorcycle there from Florida. The entire staff was superb and made great suggestions on where to eat, what to see, etc. We definately plan to stay there again! And, a city girl like me even gets to experience a camp fire every night in front of our cabin.

I have stayed with this group twice. They just get better and better. Their houses are beautiful! This year my brother had the house just next to us. We could not see or hear him, but he was only a short walk away. Everything is provided so you only have to bring personal toiletries and your clothes. We were only a shot distance from Bryson City, Cherokee, the train, Fontana and anything else you might want. The owner and his wife are wonderful people. You could not ask for more.
