July 2007

We have just returned from a month tour of the US - taking in New York, Pensylvania, but mostly the South. Of all the beautiful places that we stayed in, the Folkestone Inn, left the most lasting impression.
We stayed for around 4 days but we wished we had stayed longer.
The Inn was just so comfortable with a real nostalgic feel that did not border on the artificial - never have I stayed at a place that so reflected the beautiful surroundings. It was like staying with wonderful friends. Each room was individually furnished, each breakfast was individually cooked, each member of staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were gorgeous and the peace was perfect.
I can't wait to go again - I want to live there!!!!! The Innkeepers have a right to feel proud of what they have worked for and achieved.

We just returned from our 4 night stay at the Folkestone Inn in Bryson City and it was perfect from start to finish. The inn is beautiful and quite charming. It's obvious they spend many hours maintaining the grounds and ensuring that their guests have every added touch available. The location is breathtaking and it is convenient to all of the local attractions. We hiked to 3 gorgeous waterfalls, went tubing at Deep Creek, took a white water rafting trip down the Nantahala and rode on horseback up a mountain overlooking Fontana Lake. All of this was within minutes from the Inn. Don't worry, if you're not into all of the activity, they have many areas to sit and take in a book or just the view!
The breakfast served each morning was divinely delicious!! There are wonderful restaurants in the area to dine as well.
Please take a few days to visit this Inn and its surroundings...you will be thrilled with your choice!

We felt right at home at the Folkestone. Very quaint and cozy. It's sort of like staying at your grandmothers, with the benefit of not having to put up with your relatives.

The inn is very quiet (less so during the weekend) and secluded. There's many spots to just sit and relax after a long day of hiking or other activities: the front porch, on lawn chairs, in the sitting room, library or dining room. Our room was also quite comfortable: there was a clawfoot tub, a little porch and a nice comfy bed. I'd say the breakfasts were good, but not gourmet. Mostly they revolved around the theme of fruit, eggs, pancakes or other bread, and sausage
or bacon.

My husband and I visited Folkestone Inn back in September along with several other B&Bs/Inns and Folkestone is, no question, the best Inn we have ever stayed at. The simplicity of everything really takes you away from the craziness of life and allows you to fully relax. The rooms are very appropriately decorated for the style of house and the bed was comfortable, too. The nice big yard was wonderful with the mountains close by; it was great being so close to the Great Smokey Mountains! The breakfasts were fantastic! The simple gesture of putting fresh baked cookies out every day along with the bowl of skittles and a fridge for customer use (with complementary beverages) was such a simple, but great idea. The entire house was SOOO clean - even the porch! (I like things clean). The innkeepers and staff were very friendly and did a fantastic job of making us feel comfortable. We are still exploring the rest of the country, but when we go back to the Smokey Mountatins, we will certainly stay at Folkestone Inn again.

This was the first B&B stay for my wife and I. The property is immaculate and the Breakfast is gourmet quality. I noticed that they had achieved a 100% on the health dept. inspection certificate, which I very rarely see. There is a small library ,as well as snacks, beverages and a microwave and refrigerator for patron use . The inkeepers are very friendly and knowledgeable on the history of the area as well as hiking trails etc. The three basement level rooms are available for under $100 and were very nice.

Great location is only one of the attractions of this small and quaint B&B. We loved the room, tho it was a bit humid. The decor was fun, and the sofa bed a big plus since the queen bed is a bit cozy for us. The breakfast kept us going for miles on the Smokies. We loved the grounds, with so many places to relax and hang out. The owners, Peggy and Kay, are nice and helpful. We wish we had more time to spend in the Smokies! But we hope to be back.
One little problem for me was the clawfoot tub. It's a tall tub and for a short person it is not ideal.

My husband & I stayed in late October and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The accomodations were clean, and the breakfasts were great! We absolutely love the Smoky Mountains and this place is right there. The view from the front lawn is beautiful. Everyone was friendly and helpful, even the cat! We've stayed in one other B&B (in FL) that was larger (more rooms), but this one was more quaint & had a ton of information on day-hikes, and things to do in the area. We definately want to return!
