Just arrived home from a two nite stay at The Buck House Inn. It took all I had in me to leave this most beautiful B & B. From the Inn- Keepers(Deb n Sam) to the other guests--The grounds---the Inn were nothing short of spectacular!!! This was my first visit to a B & B and let me tell you they set the bar high. I will compare future overnite stays away from home to this Inn. A special Thanks to Ms Betty, Deb's mom, and Ms Laurie for there kindness during our visit. Also the two kitties, Ms Pearl n Oreo, and Angel the resident CanineKeep up the great job and see ya sooner rather then later ;)

We celebrated our anniversary with an overnight trip to The Buck House Inn. Set against a mountain backdrop with a picturesque creek running alongside, the Inn is a beautifully-restored home that strikes a perfect balance of old world charm and modern conveniences. The rooms are all decorated with comfort and luxury in mind, and the grounds are immaculately manicured and tended to. The meals and snacks were delicious - homemade waffles and the fixins' for breakfast and homemade cookies to nibble on in the afternoon. The innkeepers - Debbie and Sam - made us feel very welcome during our stay and are very knowledgeable about the area and things to do/see. It was through their recommendation that we were able to hike about 8 miles of the Appalachian Trail (which is practically at their doorstep - at the top of Bald Mountain!). We loved that we could do as much (or as little) as we wanted to - it was a very relaxing trip and we would HIGHLY recommend The Buck House Inn...perfect way to celebrate an anniversary!

Room Tip: Stayed in the Dreamdale Suite which is right next to the creek - slept with windows open and was lul...

We "moved in" to the Buck House Inn for the weekend of our wedding. The whole experience was an absolute delight! From the beauty of the mountains and creek to the gorgeous views from the pavilion, tadpole watching at the pond, and a bonfire at night, our family enjoyed every moment! Our hosts were gracious enough to drive the bridal party up the mountain and made sure we had everything we needed to make the event perfect. My wedding weekend was perfect and the Buck House was everything we had hoped for!

In our years of B&B experience, we could not find a more charming mountain historic retreat nestled between a gurgling creek and elegant gardens. The "five-diamond hosts" are the only thing better than this inn's setting, if that could be possible. Sam and Debbie are accommodating, informative, and so caring. Oreo and Miss Pearl, their cats as well as Angel, their lab weave additional charm to this exquisite setting, to say nothing of the abundant bird watching opportunities. Lulled by gurgles of nearby creek in a fabulously and tastefully furnished room, we slept wonderfully. Our restful night was highlighted by a deliciously prepared and elegantly served breakfast. You won't have to look far for hiking either on this property or a day trip to Roan Mountain State Park and Carver's Gap. which we would highly recommend. If you take this area in, we would highly recommend a remarkable burger or Philly Steak 'n Cheese at the Waterwheel Cafe on Highway 19E outside of Elizabethtown on your way to Roan Mountain. Feel the stress lift and your spirits soar as you spend a night or two+ at this jewel in the mountains.

Room Tip: Our experience was in Creekside.

We just returned from three nights, will definitely return and highly recommend. Quite possibly our best inn experience. Beautiful cove/creekside setting that is peaceful, serene and calming. Exceptional restoration of 1910 house built by Buck, a lumber businessman and legislator, and whose family lived in for 50+ years. The house is very tastefully furnished and highlights the original chestnut walls/floors/ceilings (unlike so many inns that are overdone in antiques and/or Victorian style). There is a huge porch with rockers and swings. The out buildings and stone wall are orignial and there are rumors of trout (very wise trout) in the creek and pond. The flower beds are extremely well done and there is a wide variety of birds. Breakfasts are wonderful and quite sophisticated. The house pets, Angel the retriever and two cats are part of the welcoming party. The best part is the incredibly warm hosts, Sam and Debbie, a career couple that retired three years ago and entered the inn business because they truly want to welcome guests to their home. The inn is at the base of Bald Mountain from which one has incredible 360 degree views (possible to drive within 20 minutes of the summit or to hike 3 miles from the inn).

Other than the club house at the top of the mountain for lunch and dinner(and great golf course if one wishes to play), it is 20 - 45 minutes to restaurants, but the choices are quite good (several qualifying for "foodie" status) and one adjusts to the driving times. There are galleries and antique shops within 20 minutes to an hour that focus on the exceptional art/crafts of the Toe River Valley. There is also hiking and other outdoor activities from the inn door to an hour drive (including several access points to the Appalachian Trail.

Truly a great choice for a restful retreat.

Room Tip: Not a bad one.

This was an awesome place to celebrate our 35th anniversary. The inn is so comfortable and relaxing The innkeepers are amazing. They are so friendly and helpful. Landscaping is beautiful. Everything is so nice the way it is decorated. Sam and Debbie gave us lots of tips on places to visit and eat. We loved the front porch with the other guests. We wished we could have stayed longer.

The inn is beautiful and in a lovely, peaceful setting, but what really set it apart for us was the friendliness and helpfulness of innkeepers Debbie and Sam. From sharing leftovers from a family dinner with us so we wouldn't have to get back in the car after a nine hour journey, to providing tips on what to do in the area, they were the perfect hosts. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay more than two nights! We've stayed at many inns, but this one is special.
