Other than the beauty of this golf coarse,it has nothing else going for it.Greens that are like shag carpet they are so slow.Terribly maintained,no driving range,no restrooms,no chipping area,no where close to being the nicest coarse in the area....over priced...over rated....

My wife have the good fortune to travel the backroads of the US and play a variety of public and private courses. We really enjoyed our round at Mt Mitchell. This was there opening weekend for spring play, April 6th, and the weather was perfect. We chose to walk and price was $35.00 each. The greens were arrified and sanded 5 days prier, but that is the case with most of the courses in this area. At the time we made our tee time we were advised of that and encouraged to wait a week or so. We decided to give it a go anyway. We loved it. Beautiful setting, very wakable for late 50 early 60 yr olds. A river runs throughout the course and it made the walking that much more enjoyable.
The landing areas are wide, each teeing area has an accurate depiction of the whole and yardages are on most sprinkler heads.
It is a very fair test of golf. The fairways were in great shape for this time of year. It was just one of those courses that made you feel like you were going to play a good round when you got on the first teee.It is a cart path only course, which was not a problem for us. The practice putting green is a generous size and typical of the greens on the course. There is no driving range.
The eating area was not open until May, so cannot comment on that. Barry and Dean, who run the pro shop were very personable and helpful, giving us a good history of the course and making us feel right at home. Having been in the golf business over the past 30 years, it was exciting to be on a course that was privately held and open to the public, with reasonable rates, friendly staff and to be in such good condition. We will be back

Gorgeous views right in the middle of the mountains and a challenging game of golf. Spectacular views and a great golf course make this one of a kind experience a must for any golfer.

We came on a family vacation this past July and stayed in one of the rental houses on this golf course. My wife and I really didn't know what to expect since her parents made all the arrangements. The house was absolutely beautiful (3 story, 3 bedroom, garage with ping pong table, & a golf cart to ride around the facilities). After the golf course closes, we were able to walk around the golf cart trail and see the beautiful surroundings. There are two different places where they have gigantic fish that you can feed and watch. We also rode our bikes on the golf cart trail and saw several deer run across the course. During our visit we also made a day trip to nearby Mt Mitchell.

Seldom do you get a deal on an incredible place that is truly the best. We stayed at the Mount Mitchell Golf Club for the Mount Mitchell hike. Spacious, well equipped, clean 3 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse on the picturesque 18th hole of the course. Friendly staff. No hassles. Excellent food at the restaurant (BBQ buffet one night, menu the next). And the kicker? $100 a night. Put hiking Mount Mitchell on your bucket list and make the golf club your lodging of choice. Would like to return and actually play the course!
