“Hidden Gem - Inn on Pamlico is really 5 Star”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

It was the luck of the Irish, the stars were all aligned... on a whim, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this hidden gem and wow, we were more than impressed!

First of all, Steve Nelson, the owner and GM, knows what he is doing and what old fashioned or maybe just southern-hospitality really is. The funny part is that I didn't get a chance to meet Steve Nelson as he was away when we stayed there, but I could already tell that I liked him and wanted to meet him by the small thoughtful details that he put into this place.

The Inn on Pamlico is a cozy, clean, well-kept and a romantic getaway for those who are looking for a perfect place to stay. From freshly brewed coffee right outside your door, to complimentary bikes, fishing poles, sea kayaks, paddleboards, sit-down 3-course breakfast, home made wonderful chocolate chip cookies at night, free snacks in your room, 8,000 blockbuster movies in your collection to live music every night at their amazing restaurant... Steve Nelson & Amazing, thoughtful Staff, you guys have thought of EVERYTHING to make us want to come back.

The greatest part is everything is included. They don't nickle and dime you, they just give generously to make sure that you are welcome and at home. You want to rent a movie, maybe 3-4? Just ask, its free. You want coffee and an all you can eat brunch, just come down, it's white table cloths and free. You want bikes, beach towels, umbrellas, ice coolers for the beach.. yes, once again its all free for guests to use... This is TRUE Hospitality, and more hotels or B&Bs should take a lesson from The Inn on Pamlico. I would highly recommend anyone stay there.

I never write reviews and felt compelled to write one. I hope you give this place as much love and respect as they give to you. I am on the road 75% of the time and have stayed in my share of hotels across the globe, you've kept it intimate, cozy, welcoming and definitely have done it right. I will be back again!

Thank you!
Lisa

This was our first trip to the Outer Banks. We chose the Inn at Pamlico Sound based on trip advisor reviews. The Inn was amazing. We stayed in the Sunflower room which has a private balcony facing Pamlico Sound. It was so peaceful and beautiful. We spent most evenings after dinner, enjoying a bottle of wine on our balcony. The staff were all extremely friendly and accomodating. The 3 course breakfast in the mornings was amazing. This is the place to stay on the sound.

Just got home from a father/daughter bicycle adventure - Key West to Virginia Beach. When on a trip like that you don't usually get to choose where you will stay at the end of the day. It's a function of how far you can bike, the weather, where you can get a reservation etc... Along the way we were forced to sleep in some places that could be classified as "not habitable for human beings". But occasionally we ran into a place that was truly exceptional. The Inn on Pamlico Sound was exceptional and awesome. Every part of the experience was great. At check in, the friendly staff showed us around and invited us to make ourselves at home. The refrigerators in the hallway are stocked with (free) cold drinks - welcome news after pedaling for 50 miles in the heat and humidity. The rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and immaculate. The view of the bay from our room cannot be put into words. The pool was clean and refreshing. The kayaks and sup boards allowed us to experience something we had not done before - really fun. The bay was beautiful. The home theatre on the bottom floor, complete with movie theatre seats and a choice of hundreds of movies was totally unexpected. The reading room was comfortable and well stocked with an eclectic selection of books and magazines. The restaurant was exceptional. We couldn't believe that breakfast, which was delicious, was included in the price. This place is not only awesome, it's actually a great value - two things that usually don't go together. Lastly, and not to take away from any of the above - the chocolate chip cookies they serve in the afternoon are the best we have ever had, and we have travelled the world eating chocolate chip cookies. The only negative experience we had was having to leave. We wanted to stay forever.

Room Tip: Book early. We were very lucky to get the last room.

Thank you so much for a terrific stay! We just loved our time at the Inn. It was the perfect location in the Outer Banks -- removed from the busy tourist area with a beautiful location right on the sound. Our room, the Morning Glory, was delightful, with a gorgeous view of the sound and just above the restaurant. We enjoyed the complimentary snacks upon arrival, the free use of kayaks and bikes, and we got to catch on two movies with the expansive DVD collection. A delicious, made-to-order breakfast was included in the price each day. And everyone was extremely nice and helpful. We felt relaxed and replenished during our entire stay. We will be back!

Room Tip: Morning Glory was great!

My husband and I gave this place a try based on reviews and wanting a nice place to stay without the high cost that usually goes with that. Pamlico Inn is a B&B with a variety of rooms to choose from. Some have balconies, a few don't. The staff is exctionally friendly and make you feel very welcome. The breakfasts were included and cooked to order with a nice presentation. Dinners are served here as well and open for the public. Live music is sometimes part of the venue as well. We enjoyed dinner here as fried food is so common on the island, something we don't eat very often, and this place had more what we were looking for. The pool may be small, but it is clean. The smells some people complain about do come from the sound as the tide moves in and out- so you smell the bog! This is smelled all along the sound side, just not at this location, and not all day long. We also liked the idea of borrowing on an honor system: beach chairs, SUPs, etc. didn't have to buy or rent! We are returning again this August for another stay and looking forward to it!

Room Tip: Search their website to see room selections prior to booking! The photos are fairly current with a b...

A lovely view of the sound, quiet whispered meals, mostly couples. Understated and elegant for the outer banks. A very good price point considering far less adventurous food other places for just a bit less. definitely NOT a place for the young family. Go here for a special night. Sunsets on the sound are beautiful.

I don't usually write reviews, but my experience at The Inn was so refreshing that I felt it was review worthy. We had the tuna, which was perfectly cooked and the crab cakes which were great. The staff was very helpful and the beautiful sunset made it a perfect evening. We had a fabulous time will definitely return.
