The playground is made of wood and is huge. There are wood houses for the kids to play in also. My two and a half year old had a blast. So did the adults in our group. There is a separate area with a smaller playground for kids aged 2-5. Both playgrounds have one way in and out which helps contain children. There are also a lot of benches for the parents to relax on.

There are several pavilions and grills in a grassy area near the playground. I definitely suggest stopping by if you are staying in Cashiers or driving through Cashiers!!!

I wish there was a park like this in Florida!!!

This was one of the most enjoyable July 4th celebrations we have enjoyed. The band, The Extraordinares from Hickory NC, played from 6:30 until dark when there was a lovely display of fireworks. As we had been there early to place our chairs in a good location, we chose to leave after the fireworks but understand that the band was going to play again. My husband and I were TOTALLY impressed that the crowd had such a good time - folks dancing and singing with the band. We were also astonished that there was not one policeman at the park but there was no need for any patrolling. Everyone (young and old) had a fantastic time. Food vendors offered minimal items but veteran participants brought coolers and picnics.

This is not to be missed! Whether you are here for a day, walk thru and see the sculptures scattered throughout, check out the best playground for kids in the mountains, have a picnic, just enjoy the natural beauty of this community jem. If you are lucky enough to be here on a Friday night for "grooving on the green" you are in for a real treat. Bring your blanket or chairs, something to drink and a picnic for sure. A variety of bands play during the summer, some of the best Appalachian mountain country and bluegrass plus....plus. Be sure to donate to the cause so it can continue, its free for the community but somebody pays, right? Also an incredible fireworks on the 4th and a couple outstanding arts and crafts festivals in the spring, summer and fall. A huge bonus in the beautiful mountain community of Cashiers NC.

The village green here in Cashiers is the beating heart of our very precious community. Some days alive with major events (craft shows, animal blessings, patriotic events, concerts) and other days just a lazy place to stroll through-for kids to play or to visit one of the many shops and restaurants of this mountain jewel. Cashiers doesn't look like much is going on, but that is the whole point..villagegreen, farmers market, antiqueing(sp) family life full blown, unpretentious.Exquisite mountain living in the Smoky Mountains, where your dog is as welcome as you are. And a handshake still means something.

walking through the park and stepping in dog poop isn't my cup of tea, I have yet seen anyone cleaning up after their dogs
