“Best place in Cashiers for ice cream.”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

We go here often and keep coming back because we like it so much. Lots of add ins and toppings to have added to your bade of soft serve. Service is always good.

Con: the outside seating is limited and nothing special- this could stand to be a bit larger and prettier.

I recommend.

“Freshness is important, needs work....”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

*Up Front* I haven't a clue whether the Highlands version and the Cashiers version are owned by the same folks. It's nice to have them in both locations. The Cashiers version, which has downsized in recent years, is becoming woeful, and it's sad.*

The idea is seemingly simple, but the execution is off. Selecting your ice cream and additions and then watching it literally drill mixed together is kind of cool. We've been here many times over the years, and sometimes, it's been great. Our recent trip was not. Here's why....

The added ingredients weren't fresh, and it was sadly obvious. Fudge, brownies, etc. They were stale, which completely detracted from the ice cream. This is the second visit in a row where we've left disappointed. I mentioned to the lone individual (a very nice young man) working the window that the ingredients were off - stale - etc. He understood, he apologized, he said he would mention it to the manager. And sadly, I think that was all he really could do.

I'm not one to demand refunds, even over an expensive, poor tasting ice cream cone. And I didn't here. This establishment has been around awhile, and I've never had a bad experience in Highlands. But if we try the Cashiers location again, and we find the same issues, we won't be back again. They simply need better quality oversight. It's what should separate them from any other place.

A note on pricing. The ice cream is expensive. You pay a premium for the specialty mixing process they employ. As a true treat, it's worth it when it's right. But man oh man, when it's not right, you may leave feeling underwhelmed and not so pleased that you've just doled out a chunk of change for less than.

Another note for nut allergies: Tell the employee taking your order if you have any nut allergies. They do rinse down the drill presses between cone concoctions. But you may want to watch carefully. I'm in no way insinuating that they aren't careful, because I believe they are very attune to the fact that people with nut allergies (or other food allergies) really can't even have the "residue" of nuts in their mixtures. But be responsible and proactive in your efforts to be safe, when you order.

“Sweet and creamy window shop”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

Little corner window shop - sweet find, very good mix-in style ice cream. Took a few bites from my kids' - loved the double chocolate gelato and the vanilla with mixed in chocolate chips was very good too - not too sugary and just the right amount of cream!!

“great choices, would not hesitate to return”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

During our shopping in Cashiers, we stopped by this place for a quick ice cream. They have a great variety of toppings to mix into the ice cream or frozen yogurt. I had the coconut and macadamia nuts (two toppings are included in the price). Everyone was very glad we stopped here.

“Custom ice cream made to order”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

Where can you order you own ice cream just with the ingredients you want. How about chocolate with macadamia nuts and toffee?
Or any other of the thousands of combinations. No trip to Cashiers can be complete without a stop here.
