A group of us invaded Tarantini's on a recent evening. The restaurant offers a wide range of Italian-based specialties, including multiple fish choices. My group of 6 had 4 different mains, all of which were quite tasty, and the house wine exceeded expectations. Despite the very full house, the waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating, checked with us regularly, yet managed to be unobtrusive. Our evening was enhanced by the very fine piano playing of Scott Schillin, who performs there about every two weeks. His performance added to a very lively evening and no doubt helped to fill the dining room on a summer Wednesday.

We had never eaten at Tarantini's and stopped by Saturday night without a reservation to try it out. The restaurant was modestly busy and we were greeted graciously and given a choice of seating. My husband and I ordered drinks and looked over the menu deciding to share an appetizer, bruschetta, and share a veal picatta, which is our favorite. When ordering, we explained this to the waitress and she let us know that there would be a plate charge for splitting the meal. As a footnote, we always share meals because portions are just too much for either of us to eat by ourselves. We never run into a problem regarding this because we add drinks and appetizers. As we sat chatting and enjoying the casual yet slightly upscale ambience, our waitress brought us the veal picatta..... We looked at each other and my husband asked about our appetizer. Our waitress said it was coming.... Long story short, for some reason she thought we wanted both at the same time. We said that wasn't the case and that since the entree was delivered we would skip the appetizer. She and the owner/manager were both very apologetic, offered to bring us something different, offered us dessert on the house, and in the end since we declined, the owner/manager gave us a gift certificate and urged us to come back and give them a second chance. We were not impressed with the veal picatta...the sauce just didn't have the lemony capery kick we love...and a plate charge has always struck us as tacky in better restaurants; however, the gracious way in which the owner/manager handled an otherwise disappointing evening warrants a second chance.

Tarantini is a little off the beaten track, but worth the extra mile. The dining area is very nice and they have an enclosed patio which would be perfect for a large group or event. The service was wonderful and friendly, there was a wide variety of food choices. We had from salads to salmon to pasta. The salmon was perfectly prepared and the vodka penne was great with extra bread for dipping. Note: this is a higher end restaurant, we didn't know and went in very casual (shorts) but were made to feel very welcomed.

Went for my birthday dinner. Food was excellent - had fettuccine alfredo with chicken - delicious. Others had veal saltimbocca and frutti de mar alfredo and both said they were excellent. Everyone is raving about the appetizer bread - didn't think it was all that - just your normal ciabiatta with olive oil. Didn't have dessert. Didn't get higher mark because the tap water tasted like dirt or old lake water, so had to order bottled water to drink - then they brought the wrong water out, but took it back and didn't charge for it. Overall - excellent place - will definitely go back and will be on my list for occasional visits.

Away from Franklin street crowd, This restaurant sits in a quiet neighborhood like a hidden gem. Went there with a group of friends. The restaurant itself is very welcoming, cozy ad romantic.
I had gamberetti Italiano al pesto (Shrimp with pesto sauce). It was fantastic! My friends ordered mushroom ravioli and chicken piccata. There were all very pleased with their meals. For dessert we tried the chocolate mousse, and the molten choc cake. Highly recommended.
If you are looking to treat yourself to a nice dinner with great service Tarantini is the place to go! We will go back soon!
