I had sort of forgotten about this place which is not on the main drag in Chapel Hill. We drove by and decided to try it while in town recently. The menu is not extensive but has choices for most tastes and the prices are reasonable. We were happy with the food and the service. Our waiter, Zeke, was very knowledgable about the food and wine selections. He is a native of the area and knew a lot about some of the things going on in the community. We enjoyed talking to him. On this occasion we were trying something different but La Rez will definitely be on our list to return.

La Residence was a delightful surprise! At first glance at the restaurant and its menu, I was certain we were going to be in for a mediocre experience. Appetizers and main courses were very reasonably priced, and there was nothing over-the-top about the decor of the restaurant itself. The wait staff, however, were super attentive and one's description of the desserts available led us to to choose his TWO favorites to share, because we too could not determine which would be better! And the food! OMG! The steak salad was sublime, with tender slices of steak, reconstituted dried cherries, caramelized onions and blue cheese on top, next to greens in a delicate vinaigrette. The butternut squash ravioli and risotto were amazing! Again, my husband and I shared because we couldn't decide between the selections. DEFINITELY worth the visit and soon, there will be parking available with a new garage going up across the street.

Pretty restaurant where two parties we attended were really lovely. The food was quite good and the space is great for a large crowd (though somewhat noisy, even inside, with a DJ on the patio).

My wife and I had a very enjoyable dinner at La Rez, our first experience. The ambiance is homey since this is an old house converted to a restaurant. Zak was our server, very professional and customer oriented. The meal was superb, salmon poached in oil on tri-colored fingerling potatoes garnished with a tarragon mousse, yum. My wife had a seasonal dish of pumpkin ravioli in browned butter, wow. Dessert was a little disappointing but OK. It was the smoked tiramisu which turned out a bit hard and very sweet. Only issue was a street light outside shining in on our table (205) which created a glare. Also premium drinks are excpensive, my Ciroc vodka was $15 which is a NYC price. Will definitely go again as the food is outstanding.

The ladies lunch group dined at La Rez in Chapel Hill today. It was relaxing, delicious, and the menu was quite good. The presentation was very nice, service outstanding and the portion sizes were great for our group.

Le Residence (La Rez) has been a Chapel Hill fixture for MANY years and is a classic for this area. With the new places opening in town and nearby, I lost it in the "shuffle" and I'm so glad we returned so we may remember it for future events.

The parking is not so great right now with construction in Chapel Hill, but parking decks are one of the projects, so we are looking forward to easier visiting Chapel Hill's gems in the future.

La Rez is a "must visit" due to it's longtime presence and great reputation in Chapel Hill.
