Lots of restaurants - from casual to higher priced, ice-cream, frozen yogurt, cupcakes... good way to spend a lazy afternoon. Have some dinner, and take a leisurely stroll.. visit the museum or just hang out. Will avoid on Saturdays when the students take over.

During the school year, Franklin Street is thriving with UNC students, Chapel Hill residents, and locals. There's a great mixture of small shops, bars, sandwich shops, and all manner of restaurants, with some being excellent venues for foodies. I've heard Halloween night is crazy but have never ventured to town for the event. Summers are sedate with the lack of students but are favored by locals looking for fewer crowds.

Haven't been back in awhile since my school days. Great to see other than the price of the blue cup that nothing else has changed. Courtyard and upper deck create a great atmosphere for after the game.

Chapel Hill is just a special place. Between the restaurants, the shopping, the atmosphere, and the fellow Tar Heels, it is a place that has made me feel welcome and at home for over 35 years. There is no place I'd rather be. From Top of the Hill, Ye Olde Waffle Shoppe, Spanky's, Four Corners, or Vespa, Crooks or 411, there are so many great places to satisfy your taste buds! And you never know who you will run into - many famous alumni are always back because we are all part of the Tar Heel family :)

Franklin street from one end to the end other represents Tar-heel country ,local restaurants local boutiques , Local bars taverns all competing for that almighty Carolina Tar Heel dollar, During game days can be very crowded especially football and basketball game days , If you're planning a trip during one of the football or Basketball game days, parking is difficult at times, Come early.....
