“Always consistent and good”
Reviewed 28 November 2011

We order from Ming Garden probably on a monthly basis, however as we live close we usually order take-out. When we call and pick-up our order everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is always good, much better than other Chinese I've had in the past couple of years. Its always consistent, so you know what you are getting.

“Tasty”
Reviewed 30 April 2009

Paradoxically, I agree with all 3 earlier reviewers, at least in part. It's very good by the standards of Chapel Hill, indeed by the standards of the Triangle. OK, it's not NY or SF or even LA, but it's very tasty and reasonably priced. The best item on the menu (also the most expensive at $14.95 as of 4/09) is the Wok-Flashed Salt and Pepper Shrimp. Ask for the accompanying fried rice to be made with extra chicken, shrimp, and pork. They'll charge about two bucks extra for that, and it's well worth it. Also make sure and get proper Chinese hot mustard, not the honey mustard that normally comes.

Disappointing food, definitely has gone downhill steadily in the past couple of years. Now it is a typical, maybe even below average, Chinese strip mall restaurant. Gone are the fresh ingredients and complex flavors.

“Best Bet in Chapel Hill Area”
Reviewed 24 November 2007

The above average rating is in relation to the area. Having lived mostly in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area, I've been spoiled. That being said, Mings has some decent food compared to the other Chinese restaurants in the Chapel Hill area. It's not super greasy either. If I'm going to attempt to eat Chinese food, this the place I go. Dan Dan noodles are particularly good (ask for them extra hot). Hot and sour soup is also good. As a random plus for Mings, they have a great wine list as well. They may be a little pricier than some other restaurants, but the lunch menus is a good deal. $6 for soup and entree.

Best chinese around. Not the usual "cheap chinese" food. This place buys top grade meats and veggies. Try the Moo Shoo Pork (or Lamb, when they offer it).
