This hotel is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of staying in!
From the moment you arrive, you are engulfed in southern hospitality!
The staff was way beyond any level I was expecting!
The rooms are like staying at a friend home! If your Friends had a beautiful, well designed home!
Every luxury is provided, every need thought of, every indulgence provided!
I wish I had stayed longer!

Room Tip: I was in 270 It was great!

This hotel is a little pricey, but when visiting the University of NC at Chapel Hill, one just must stay here. The Inn is full of history...if only the walls could talk. But they do. The walls are covered with past alumni from the first class to recent graduates from this wonderful university. The food in the dining room was excellent and the bar was comfortable and a treat for a mini-retreat from a busy world. From the Inn you can stroll around the campus and walk over to the 4 blocks of quaint shops, museums and eateries. I stayed here years ago and enjoyed the Inn at that time and not much has changed. The staff are mostly students, so they are not always perfect, but hey, they did a great job and what a great training ground for any career. Don't go for the chain hotels when you can stay at the Carolina Inn!

Room Tip: Being an old Inn...ask for a larger room if you need more space. The rooms are very small and quite...

Green Features: Same as most hotels. Ask you to use your towels and few changes in bed linens. I never have them change linens unless I am longer than 7 days in a room.

My wife and I, both alumni of UNC, recently stopped into Chapel Hill to catch a football game and were pleasantly surprised to find the Carolina Inn had a last-minute cancellation. Though we spent four years there as students and have been back dozens of times since then, we'd always stayed with friends in the area or at cheaper hotels further from campus, so we were excited to give the Carolina Inn a try.

Though it was a bit pricey for Chapel Hill ($240/night), we were delighted with our room and the overall experience. From the valet to the desk clerk, service was attentive and friendly. Parking is included in the room rate (something worth its weight in gold on a Carolina football game weekend). The valet met us when we arrived at 11:45AM on a Saturday and when I checked at the front desk our room was ready. Arrival was effortless and we were checked in, unpacked and on our way to the game (a short 10 minute walk to the main campus and stadium) by 1230PM. The room was without a doubt the nicest I've ever experienced in Chapel Hill and was modern (great bathroom, beds, wifi), but with a historic feel (old photos of the University on the walls). As a history buff I also appreciated all of the various placards telling the stories of places and people at UNC that are scattered throughout the hotel.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Probably wouldn't be prudent to stay there every time we visit, but definitely worth the splurge for a nice weekend once in a while!

This place is lovely from its beautiful southern decor to its light airy feel; I felt immediately at home; my favorite place was the sunroom and the artwork on its walls; room service/food wonderful!
I would absolutely stay there again.

Stayed with my sons for college orientation. Everything we wanted to see was within easy walking distance and wide choice of restaurants. We were a little disappointed with the "upgrade" to include snack kitchen, but this was partially credited at check-out. We will not hesitate to return to this landmark hotel.
