The charming pictures and Southern Living recommendation really put this high on our our list, but our actual stay here was sub-par.
As background, we usually stay in nicer chain hotels for our vacations (Four Seasons or Intercontinental for example), but for quick trips to save money, we stay at Holiday Inn. In summary, we have had universally better experiences at Holiday Inns.
I've never posted a review before, so hopefully this is complete enough! I just felt it would be so wrong for someone else to waste their money, time, and experience staying in a place that is "riding out the name."
Specific points:
- breakfast: hard, stale pastries and cold eggs. (One table of buffet-style)
- room: stained rugs, leaky faucets, paint chipping, bugs in bathroom. No way to control the temperature in the room. Water takes ~15 min to warm up to room temperature. Bath items (travel shampoo for eg) clearly leftover from prior guests (mini bottle open and partially used).
- cleanliness: this was one of the more disappointing aspects of the trip, because I think that if a place is clean, I will most likely overlook other deficits. The cleaning staff left their cleaning items out in the common areas, near the water cooler. The best was only partially made after they came in (pillows not replaced etc), and the bathroom was not actually clean afterwards either (I saw long hair scattered around the flor...The charming pictures and Southern Living recommendation really put this high on our our list, but our actual stay here was sub-par.

- hospitality: Alika was the person with whom we interacted unfortunately. Curt, rude, and condescending are the overall descriptors I would use for her attitude. We made a request for assistance our last day there and were met with a blank stare and an angry look, as if she was actually annoyed to be bothered when she was checking her phone at the front desk! She had the disposition of an annoyed teenager, and repeatedly said "oh well, we just can't help you." It was actually more shocking to be spoken to like that than anything else!
Overall, it seems like it was once a very cozy and cute b&b at one point, but it's glory days are over. Now due to lack of upkeep and a truly underperforming staff, it is somewhere best avoided.More
