Comfort Suites Charlotte Northlake

Sadly, this suites hotel could be so much more and earn a better rating.
First, the PROs;
Super friendly staff, always with a smile and very curteous.
Great facilities, including a pool, fitness suite, laundry and business room with internet and printer.
Large rooms complete with lounge/sitting area, kitchenette, comfy bed and bathroom with tub and multi setting shower head.

Now the CONs;
Service staff do not thoroughly clean. I left my bath towel on the back of the door after use, prepared to use it again. Came back in the evening to find a fresh towel on the shelf but the old towel not removed. The floor behind the door was dirty when I got there and was never cleaned the whole week. Short hairs on the floor from intimate parts of the body made me feel pretty yukky, being as some of them were from a previous guest.
At some stage the ceiling had been repaired and mudded. Painted white BUT a blob of the plaster/mud had slip down the wall and had not been wiped off (see photo).

Kitchenette has a microwave, fridge and coffee machine. There are lots of cabinets BUT absolutely no plates, cups, glasses or anything else. Pointless! (see photo).

Windows look out onto the pool and rear car park. There was only ONE net/voile curtain covering half of the window, thus enabling people to see into the room unless I closed one of the main curtains. (see photo).

The main breakfast/lobby area was well equipped but was not at all properly cleaned. The glass topped table by the tv had the same drink rings on top all week.

It is a shame that the hotel cleanliness does not live up to its friendly staff and great facilities. Could easily earn a 5 from me instead of a 2.

The room was more than adequate. Very roomy with a nice comfortable couch. The king bed was absolutely amazingly comfortable. Decent continental breakfast. I would stay again without hesitation, highly recommend

Not very good, inept staff, very basic layout for "top dollar" suite. Dirty towel was in the jacuzzi at first entrance. Was told we'd get a discount but paid sky high amount because of a race that was the same weekend. Won't be going there again..

We drive a large truck and trailer and this was the easiest hotel parking we have had yet. Short walk to Mexican, Subway, Chinese restaurants. Older hotel but well kept up. Huge room, large for a suite. Nice breakfast and great staff.
Only bad thing was the only ramp for the curbs was at the front of the hotel. Nothing on the sides or rear which was difficult for rolling bags.

Positive:
After going to two other hotels who could not provide us with a cot this hotel was not only able to give us a room with two beds and a pullout couch but a better rate and a bigger hotel room-with a kitchenette to boot(which we didn't need but was happy to have)!!! The main entrance was that of a much fancier hotel, which was nice to see. The front desk attendant was awesome and very helpful. We only stayed the night arriving late and leaving early in the morning so can not give you any comments about amenities other than the breakfast which was ample for what we needed to recharge us for our 12 hour ride home.
Negative (really only minor but still have to add)
Their were towels behind the door in the bathroom from the previous guests (yuk) - The bathroom was small so can understand that they were missed after cleaning- know it was cleaned as we had ample new clean towels available. Now, when we went to have a shower their were two dried up soaps in the shower soap dish (ewww). And the heater/a/c went on in the middle of the night almost making me hit the roof as it was noisy and not working well (we told the front desk as we were leaving).
Even with these minor items we would definitely look for comfort suites again as they provide bigger rooms with more space for a family of 4 (teen boys who do not share a bed!). The room upon entrance was clean and newer looking. WE were definitely impressed upon entry.

Stayed here over the weekend to attend a family event at the Hilton a few miles north. The rooms a spacious though a bit funny (sink is outside the bathroom). Bedding was wonderful the pillows perfect, great comfort food for breakfast which does stay open til 10am. Housekeeping was attentive though running a bit late. Even with cranky cherubs we slept well over the weekend. Even got a late check out before our trip back North.

Room Tip: take rooms in the upper floors and away from the traffic.

Have stayed here several times in the past and was satisfied. Not this time. Stayed three nights. Excessive noise during the night on floor above. No soap or paper towels in public restroom off of lobby. Breakfast: Only fruit was oranges. No orange juice. No plates Friday morning. No eggs on Saturday morning. Will find another place to stay in Charlotte.
