I stayed at the Omni Charlotte for four nights last week. I enjoyed it so much that it's difficult to know where to begin!
Check-in was very fast and easy. The rep at the front desk was very informative and professional, answered all of my questions in a polite and efficient manner, and was also kind enough to show me a great jogging route around Charlotte, which allowed me to see a large part of the city up close.
My room was on the 11th floor. It was quiet and very clean. And a hotel first for me: the mattress was very supportive and comfortable, as opposed to the cushy, spongy marshmallow mattresses usually found in hotel rooms. Additionally, the room featured real incandescent light bulbs, providing much more comfortable light than the curly "dust collector" CFL bulbs many hotels use these days.
Service throughout the hotel was great. As part of the Select Guest program, you can have fresh coffee or juice delivered to your room in the morning and it's complimentary. The service at the Trade Bar and restaurant was exceptional, as was the food. Wireless internet service was also complimentary through the Select Guest program.
I was attending an industry conference at the Omni and found the hotel to be a great location for such an event. The meeting rooms were comfortable and convenient. The hotel is located close to everything in Charlotte. Restaurants, the Time Warner Cable Arena and the Epicenter are a very short walk away. The hotel is very easy to get to from the airport by using the Airport Sprinter shuttle which drops you off right in front of the hotel, and it's just $2.00 each way.
Charlotte is a very positive, active, busy city with a real hopeful and friendly vibe. Even on a Sunday evening, there are people of all ages out and about. I found the people I met from the area to be quite friendly, and the city itself is very attractive and well laid out. I noticed that there is complimentary valet parking service throughout the city, so if you want to drive in for dinner from the 'burbs, parking is easy and inexpensive (you will want to tip the valet). This may not seem like a big deal, but I believe it's good for business and the local economy. You feel welcome in Charlotte. This is the polar opposite of Hartford, CT where I'm from.
And the Omni makes you feel welcome, too. So much so that I really didn't want to leave, and I'll definitely be back. I was thinking that the management and employees of this hotel could start their own business consulting other hotels and hotel chains how to properly operate a hotel property.
