“Walk, run or ride from Downtown to Freedom Park to Park Rd”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

This was discussed and planned for many years - and it's great to see it finally realized. Many locations along the Greenway to rent a bike. Nature Museum, places to play or sit, educational displays. Restaurants and other services nearby. Couples, families or even solo. Most portions very accessible. Primarily along a creek, lots of wildlife.

“Nice place to stroll”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Grab a free bike or take a walk down this trail by the creek. Lots to see and do along the way. Great for singles, couples, or families. Ducks are cute in the spring too!

“Perfect outlet for running/walking near downtown”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

I lived downtown for 6 years before I explored the greenway and now I'm so mad I've been missing out! I will be reviewing the portion right near downtown from CPCC @ 7th street through Freedom Park... It is a great place to walk/run. I will warn that it gets really crowded in the afternoon/evening/weekends so if you are trying to cycle it, plan to do early mornings or prepare to be patient :)

“A Charlotte gem for the healthy and/or curious outdoorsperson”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

The Greenway threads its way across a good part of Charlotte, currently about 25 miles in five segments. Eventually it will be a part of connected trails all around Mecklenburg County totaling about 130 miles. The greenway consists of walking/biking tails alongside various creeks. Because stream restoration is a part of the greenway project, the trail offers numerous educational displays with photos and text related to the plants, animals, and stream adjustments and flood control aspects. There are also many amenities along the way, such as statues, areas for play, seats, etc. Food is available in nearby restaurants along the way. The greenway offers a perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and to get some good exercise walking, running, or biking.

“Hidden Gem in the Urban Landscape”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

The city has really done a great job with this greenway. There is a wide path following Little Sugar Creek from just outside uptown all the way to Freedom Park. We most frequently walk along the bit next to the Metropolitan shopping area - which offers convenient refreshing frozen yogurt when you've been out walking in the sun. There are numerous fountains along the way, along with public art designed for the visually impaired and several educational plaques about the environment and the city's history. Great place to spend a couple hours on a sunny afternoon.
