“Great Weekend Getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2013

My wife and I had a mini staycation at the Dunhill... Stayed in the Penthouse Suite... well worth the extra $s. This hotel has old world charm, with a great staff! Had breakfast at the adjoining restaurant Harvest Moon, which is a farm to fork concept, great menu. Bed was super comfortable, and room was quiet. It was unseasonably warm that weekend and we slept with balcony doors open... still no noise. Can't wait to return to our newfound jewel located right in our own hometown.

This is a nice older hotel. Staff is very friendly, the restuarant is unique. We stayed on Christmas night. Enjoyed the visit. beds were extra soft, curtains were extra dark and momma got a great nights sleep. couldn't hear any traffic or trains. linens were extra soft.

Dunhill location and old world charm still make it a great choice and good value. Reservation requesting a king for two nights but none available when I arrived so took nice queen as it was business trip. Small and very comfortable but the thermostat didn't work properly. Good bed but pillows too firm and 'chunky' for my liking. Amenities were excellent, service equally so. Room included great breakfast at the restaurant. Forgot they didn't have fitness center so not sure I'd stay again.

I was in for 6 days and by the second day, I was being called by name. I was at a convention and they had a shuttle service that was very quick and efficient. The employees from the Front desk to Housekeeping are very attentive, hard working and friendly.
The rooms were very clean, spacious and any need I had was taken care of very quickly. They had the Keurig coffee pots so it was very quick and easy to get coffee.
The restaurant service was a little slow but the food was good.

My wife and I spent a night at the Dunhill earlier this year. Here is what has changed from our other visits to this hotel: The mattress in our room was lumpy and uncomfortable. I suspect it was past due for replacement. The bed pillows (4) were the size of a watermellon and about the same density. I like a firm pillow but not a brick. I spent most of the night using a folded bath towel for a pillow.

Excellent hotel. Great rooms, excellent service, and great location. Walk to restaurants and entertainment. Close to Bank America headquarter. Charlotte is very modern city. Hotel is old that has been updated very nicely.

The service was really good. The people were friendly. The food was prepared to our liking but kids were loud and the wait was really long!!!!! We probably would not go again because there are too many other restaurants in the area.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury Sr. was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant roof lines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today's Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution. A full restoration was recently completed, and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler. ... more   less
