“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

We have stayed at this hotel several times. It is a great value and the staff have always been helpful and friendly. The location is central to numerous attractions, including the casino, which is less than a ten minute drive.

The staff at this hotel went above and beyond to accommodate me and my family to prepare for my sons wedding. Between all my family throughout the hotel, to extra towels and everything else - the staff never waivered!! Accommodations were clean and fresh, food was fresh and there was plenty of coffee! Great experience

We recently stayed for 3 nights at the Hampton Inn in Cherokee, NC. We chose the Hampton Inn because we have always been able to count on the consistent cleanliness, food, and value. Not so with this one! The location is not bad, but when we arrived we were told the one icemaker was broken but would be fixed the next day. It was not fixed for our entire stay. Then housekeeping put a post-it note on our headboard informing us that the Duvet cover on the bed was clean. Made us think. . .why wouldn't it be clean. . ..but a sticky note. . .really????? The final straw was that our room was not cleaned and the overall appearance of the room was old, tired, and in desperate need of remodeling. Looks like this one is run on a shoe string. We will not stay here again.. .we have future reservations at the Quality Inn across the street with balconies and breakfast included for the same price.

the rooms were good and the front desk friendly, but either the management or the key employee s involved need to use a more critical eye and be a little less casual about the continental breakfast and its service. the pool tools were rather haphazardly stored by the pool. not a problem - but maybe indicative of the staff's lack of attention to detail.

So...this visit wasn't so nice. Last year we had no issues but this time around was terrible. The Queen sized bed was small and uncomfortable; the AC kept going on and off all night (frequently); the refrigerator emitted this loud whirring hum off and on all night; and, worst of all, the whole floor just stunk with cigarette smoke.

This hotel has 8 smoking room on the second floor at the far end of the hallway. Our room was on the opposite end in non-smoking and the smell was awful.

The staff were friendly and apologized for the unpleasant stay. They comp'd our night and we left early to find a new hotel.

This review is rated low because of our room, 119. The ice machine is directly next to the door and was crunching and grating all night long, both from people getting ice and from it making more (we think - no one was actually getting ice at 3am but it certainly sounded like it). Across the hall is a supply/staff room, producing more noise. Oh, and the elevator backs up to this room. Why is this even a guest room?

Otherwise, the hotel was fine. Nothing amazing but fine for us passing through Cherokee. The woman at the front desk was very nice. Breakfast was decent but other guests wouldnt get up from their tables after eating and were all just staring at the tv and taking up space so we had to go back to our room to eat.

My husband and I went to Cherokee to see Jim Gaffigan perform at the casino. Luckily I booked our rooms at the Hampton when I bought the tickets 3 months in advance. We arrived late, after midnight, and the Hampton Inn was full. The lady at the front desk was super nice and friendly. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, lots of pillows to choose from, no complaints. One thing travelers should know is that our GPS took us down the wrong road. I had to call the hotel to get directions from our location, which was really close. Breakfast was always plentiful with several hot items to choose from as well as the usual fare of make-your-own waffles, fruit, bagels and pastries. We also had scrambled eggs with cheese and biscuits one morning, and sausage links and eggs another morning. Even though the hotel was full, we never had an issue finding parking, with breakfast, or with the pool. We went swimming one afternoon. The pool isn't very big but big enough I guess. The room was really quiet - no problems sleeping while we were there.
