My husband and I are fans of and familiar with the Asheville/Lake Lure area of western N.C. However we were not prepared for the wonderful little gem The Esmeralda Inn in Chimney Rock is! The Inn combines charm, beautiful landscaping, hospitality and comfort. (Small details like the thick texture of the toilet tissue and towels conveyed a message that the proprietors value their guest’s comfort.) Those who like to avoid the stress of driving on winding country roads at night won’t have to forgo dinner. The Inn’s restaurant is a gourmet delight serving some of the best food we’ve eaten in the area. We especially enjoyed dinning on the deck with the views of the mountain and gardens. The proprietors have thought of just about everything one might need for a truly comfortable and enjoyable stay. We look forward to returning.

Room Tip: We like a room with a balcony or terrace. Room #2 is the only one that offers a balcony. It's...

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We want all or our guests to feel both pampered and at home.
We are very fortunate to have a great staff, both in the Inn and the Restaurant. I think we have the best restaurant in the Gorge! I'm glad you enjoyed the view too. It would be hard to find a better location.
Creating wonderful memories has been the hallmark of The Esmeralda since it was first built. We hear so many great stories of the old Inn. Our guests are creating the next generation of tales now!
Thank you again. We look forward to your next visit!

Our romantic getaway at this lovely inn offered both rustic charm and elegant style. Conveniently located near outdoor attractions, onsite amenities include the outdoor jacuzzi and fireplace, game room, and full restaurant. Excellent service, great food, comfortable beds, and the sound of the nearby river made this a great weekend.

What a great inn. The rocking chairs on the front porch are very relaxing. You can hear the river rushing over the rocks. The hot area is beautiful and it is also very relaxing. The inn is incredible with all of the natural wood. The 2nd floor has a great tv room, game room and kitchen. A freezer would be nice. The food was great and the wine and cheese hour is a nice addition. The only thing I did not like was the wall a/c. It woke me up all night when the fan came on blowing air in my face. The people were very nice.

Thank you for your review! Our location by the Broad River is hard to beat! You can hear the river at night if you crack the windows.

When the Inn was rebuilt after the 1997 fire, the owners tried to keep the flavor of the old rustic Inn, and succeeded! It has been modernized of course, but still has the warm, welcoming feel of the old Inn. We're very proud of our Restaurant. I think it's the best in the Gorge!

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and hope you'll return soon!

This is an enchanting Inn. Absolutely beautiful. Close to several fun activities. Peaceful for those who just want to get away and relax. Very customer orintated. The staff from the top to bottom were extrememly accommodating. We felt at home. Rooms clean and beds very comfortable. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you Esmeralda Staff for making a perfect wedding and reunion for us.

Room Tip: Our family rented all of the rooms at the Inn and I didn't hear any complaints from anyone.

The inn has a wonderful view, a beautiful dining experience (the best in the area), and wonderful rooms. My holidays tend to be more rest cures than anything else and for that I could not recommend the inn more. Also, if you get breakfast order a sausage link, as they are the most wonderful piece of pig you will eat. If you are going to Lake Lure, then stay here.

Room Tip: The smallest room is pretty small for two people that are close it is fine, but if you want more dis...

Thank you so much for the review! Providing a place to relax is what we do best. Some of the rooms are not large, but we find most of our guests spend their time in the rocking chairs on the porch, or in the 18 person Jacuzzi or in the lounge playing pool or air hockey! All of these spaces have great views too.

I think we have the best Restaurant in the area too!

Please visit us again soon.
