“Recent visit to Chimney Rock, NC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

My family recently visited Laura's House bakery/restaurant at the advise of a friend. The food, desserts and service was excellent. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner for two days and every meal was excellent. As a result we did not search for another place to eat. Barry and Linda (owners) made us feel as if we were family. We ate several slices of their excellent desserts and purchases two cakes to take home. Thanks to Laura's House for making us feel at home away from home. We can't wait to return.
Sincerely,
Pamela Dellinger, PhD, RNC

“Strange, slow and disappointing experience”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

This place was a disappointing experience across the board, and strange too. The service was pretty bad. Everything took a long time, and at one point our waiter literally disappeared for ~20 minutes. The menu wasn't that great, and none of our food was particularly good in anyway. Average and over-priced. And the desserts…this is supposed to be their specialty and they were so lame - just dry and plain. There have to be better options in Chimney Rock.

“No bar...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

If you are looking for a spot to have a cold beer this is not it. The River Grill was closed on a Wednesday so we crossed the street to this place. All the beers are bottled and the waitress poured it in back which us odd instead of bringing bottle. With so many beer offerings in Asheville they had only one quasi local beer...what's up with that. No bar area and the hostess was taken back when we just wanted a beer while the teenagers shopped. Did see the next table getting breakfast at 4 in the afternoon...huge pancake and omelette portion. Maybe a better place for food.

the venue is pretty cool. and I heard good things about the chocolate chip cookies. The wait staff is very young , and no manager was any where to be seen, the service is horrible. we had a late breakfast of hash, grits eggs and toast and they couldn't even get that right. We just ate to get out of there. no no no... too bad, big remodeled space, the food wasn't horrible , but it was pricey for what it was. I've much better breakfasts at the waffle house for much less.

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

The Apple Blossom cake is the most delicious cake I've come across yet! Moist and amazing!

We also ate lunch here and the food was great! We had the barbecue and fries, regular and sweet potato. The prices were reasonable as well. The staff was friendly and attentive. The table was a little sticky, but could have been the finish on it.
I certainly recommend Laura's House and will definitely choose to eat their again when visiting the area.
