We made last minute reservations and ended up spending one night in the caboose and one in the cabin thanks to Cheryl who was a HUGE help. The caboose is beautiful! If you have kids that love trains this is the place to stay. With that being said...if you plan on spending the day doing vacation activities with your family and small children (that you love) the cabin gives you the space to relax after. The game room for the kids gave the adults the much needed break from our vacation lol. We also fed bison and baby goats and brought home bison meat. We're already planning our next trip.
The caboose was perfect for our family of four, two adults and young ones ages 2 and 5. It was plenty of room, as there's a bedroom with a double bed, along with a loft with a double mattress pad and pull-out single bed in the living room/kitchen area. Everything was renovated recently so its fresh and new but with such cute decor in the caboose. The caboose also had a deck where we ate most of our meals. The caboose sits on a hill overlooking a pretty pasture area where the bison roam. It's awesome to wake up to the bison and beautiful scenery. There are also two or three cabooses being added to the property! But hope it will be as peaceful and quiet when the other cabooses are remodeled, as it was for just the four of us. On the Buffalo Creek property, there are a few other cabins, an area with goats, mini horses and bunnies, feeding area for bison and a playground (for older kids). Lots to do around BC to keep busy and great customer service when corresponding with Cheryl. Also, Waynesville is a cute town for shopping and restaurants.
The caboose is one of a kind when it comes to terms with places to stay. It is located on a really neat bison ranch with animals by the caboose such as bison, bunnies, goats, llamas/alpacas, and mini ponies with a creek and rolling hills at the edge of Pisgah National Forest. The caboose itself was nicely furnished with updated appliances and a nice bathroom. The only complaints are that there was no internet or service within the caboose, but if you went outside, service was available. The beds also weren't that great and sleeping wasn't great, but it was doable. Overall, it was a really neat place to stay with beautiful views and a unique experience.
