The staff is working a few kinks out at this newly opened restaurant next to the Hampton Inn. We had chicken parmesan and a great chicken panini. The salads were fresh and tasty. I was so happy that a salad could be the side for my sandwich. Much better than the usual fries!

This restaurant was built and opened just a couple months ago and we were looking forward to having a nice restaurant in the area. We visited at lunchtime when they had just opened for the day and were their first customer. The decor is typical new Italian restaurant (I am sure you know what I mean.) and was comfortable if a little cookie-cutter. We ordered sandwiches that were slightly overpriced for what they are- no expensive but basic ingredients. We asked for fries as our side, but for some reason the fryer would not light that day. The waitress gave us an option to have a salad instead, and as I can't eat lettuce, I selected the veggie salad. The veggie salad was very fresh but the dressing was a little bland- could have used more spice and salt for seasoning. It did take quite a while to get our sandwiches after the salads so something was up with the kitchen as there were only 4 people in the restaurant. I had the Primavera Hero which was tasty and husband had the Chicken Florentine which he enjoyed. Basic sandwiches overall. The waitress was pleasant enough but never checked back to see if we liked the food and we could have used more water! I paid with cash and got change back in all big bills so I had to leave more than I would have based on the service- I would have asked for smaller bills but she never came back! We didn't feel like waiting, so I resentfully left her a tip way too big for her service. Turn off!

I LOVE Italian food. I come from an Italian family and I say without reservation that the food here was very, very good. We ate well, for a reasonable price, and left stuffed. The entire place, including the bathrooms, was quite clean and well maintained. The service was good, though the food was a bit slow in coming. Our waitress was very pleasant, good at her job and had a pleasing charm native to the area. She was a refreshing change from the antiseptic and insincere service received at many places these days, especially in certain parts of the country (You know who you are!). Given all of that, I have two complaints. First, they employed large drum lights in the dining room and lots of them. I could have performed surgery. Pass the scalpel please! Secondly, the main dining room was a bit cramped and we rather felt that we were dining with everyone at the neighboring tables. A little less light and a little more space between tables would really help here. If you are in this neck of the woods touring the wine country of North Carolina or simply seeing the sights, this really is a great place to enjoy some good Italian food.

While in NC wine country the Hampton Inn in Dobson is THE place to stay. Bello Vino sits next door making it super convenient. While our first motivation was convenience, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Calamari appetizer was right on, salmon puttanesca was healthy and delicious, and my wife's lasagna was very good. One of the best touches was the old fashioned country butter ... not enough places serve "real" butter and when you find one that does, it stands out. By the way, if anyone like reviewer 327nancy is offended by a server trying to be sweet to you, my bet is the restaurant would just as soon not have you as a customer. This place is a really good alternative to the more upscale Harvest Grille, which we understand is very good too.
