Don't ever stay here
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Dec 2015
I have stayed at Extended Stays almost once or twice a month traveling for business for at least 3 years. My husband and I wanted to take a quick holiday to an art museum and Raleigh overnight, so I booked this on Priceline. I'd stayed at this same hotel in the past so I was happy with the choice. HOWEVER - when we got here, we were slapped in the face with the demand for a $100 CASH deposit. The girl at the desk told us "It was in your itinerary for Priceline that there would be a $100 deposit". Newsflash - when you book on Priceline, you don't even know what hotel you got until after you book it. Plus, I've been staying with this chain for YEARS so I had no idea that this was going to be pulled on me. When I said "Normally, I don't travel with loads of cash on hand, and I don't want to start carrying lots of cash, so I guess Extended Stay does not want my business any more" the girl at the desk rudely said "well, I think Extended Stay doesn't want CERTAIN TYPES OF PEOPLE staying at their hotels." Really? Certain types of business people that spend several hundred dollars a week on hotel stays?

Additionally, now, instead of just checking out, the guest will have to get someone to check over their room to see if there's damages before they will get their $100 back. Not to mention, I had to go back and report to the front desk that the room I was in smelled like cigarette smoke, because I didn't want to be blamed for that and not get the deposit back.

So, instead of relaxing in our hotel room, we had to go out to an ATM and get $100 cash.

I recently stayed at the Extended Stay Hotel South Miami Blvd. a pair of $300 shoes were removed from my room and nothing was done. Police report filed officer said this was common at this location. Corporate says there is Never proof nothing they can do. Hotel has one camera at front desk. Was unwilling to check tapes, run employee key swipes in and out of building and hotel staff was very defensive. Hotel staff was allowed to leave building and went to car during time of theft being reported. Manager Joa Watson said she would search vehicles of employees and did not. DO NOT STAY HERE.. Not only do employees steal but there have been outside breakins as well.

The staff were very helpful -- outstanding customer service. The room was very nice and particularly like the spacious bathroom, considering the cramped quarters I had endured in other hotels in the area.

Booked this hotel for 3 days stay through a Priceline deal. For the price paid, the place was average but this place needs to improve a lot. Lobby entry has a notice stating that it is being renovated but it is far from true. The hall way and carpets in room was very shabby as though it was cleaned eons ago. The room was spacious with a kitchen but the utensils are available only on request at the front desk. Front desk was very responsive and accommodating. Grab and go breakfast was really nature valley, coffee and apples. We traveled with a toddler and had to stop at nearby Walmart for milk. The entire place is labeled as non-smoking but there is always a foul smell around. Towels had stains in it and there is no housekeeping. On the second day of stay, front desk called to inform that water was getting shut down due to maintenance work. Overall this place is enough for an overnight stay and certainly not for a longer stay

The entire experience from beginning to end was extremely poor. We were put in a smoking room the first night (despite requesting non-smoking). The room wasn't clean. There weren't any towels in the room. We couldn't change rooms/hotels because we booked through Price Line which means no refunds no matter what. Despite no smoking signs throughout the facility - staff and other consumers smoked at every entrance which is difficult if you don't smoke. Even after moving to a 'non-smoking' room my clothes still end up smelling like smoke. Cleanliness is relative in this place (and the pics online are either really old or are of the Extended Stay that is across the street). The carpets leading from the lobby to the rooms were dingy and looked as if they had never been cleaned or replaced. The carpets in the rooms weren't much better. The carpets were vacuumed between stays but not really cleaned thoroughly.
The bathroom curtain had at least 4 inches of mold on the bottom. The refrigerator and stove were both dirty. There was no cart to help with luggage. At least two exits were propped open our entire stay and at least once it was obvious the staff knew it was open and left it that way. In fact I moved the stick that kept it open and it was replaced. For almost any problem the staff indicated they were undergoing renovations. While, each time we asked we were given clean towels the staff almost always seemed surprised to have clean ones available.
Throughout our stay the staff were pleasant (the highlight of our stay), but were either not trained well, had poor supervision or were just uninterested in doing more than just the minimum. It was great that staff speak and get to know the residents but every time I saw them they were doing just that -talking to each other or other 'longer term' residents. I could not recommend this place to anyone.

I was going to give this hotel a 3.5 star, for the friendly customer service and the clean large room I received. Then I didn't receive clean towels even when I requested them. I was told they had none available and they would only be able to wash my towels from yesterday once they had a full load. Housekeeping is also a fee. Parking is free, wifi is free and breakfast is free. Our room was large and clean, just make sure to bring extra towels. You are near walmart, target, sams club and office depot.
