“Perfect combination of amenties and service”

My husband & I are not generally "B&B people," but a friend was getting married in Durham and had reserved a block of rooms at The King's Daughters Inn. I'm so glad we stayed here instead of the big-chain hotel or the campus inn -- the room lived up to the pics on their website, the staff was very helpful, and breakfasts were heavenly. And the Inn (including the dining area) is large enough that we didn't feel like we had to mingle with the other guests (although we did). Little perks included a cold drinks and snacks available at all times in the lobby and a location just an easy walk away from lots of restaurants. We were also able to run on the path just across the street at the Duke East campus. A great place to stay in Durham!

I had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the King's Daughters Inn last month. The whole inn is absolutely spectacular. Durham is an up and coming town and the inn's location is only blocks from some great cuisine and entertainment. Each guest room has it's own unique feel and decor and the parlor is someplace anyone would want to lounge and read all afternoon. The staff is accommodating and so helpful. You can tell they love the inn and love what they do. I would live here if I could!!

Very much for those seeking indulgence with their Southern hospitality, each of the King's Daughters Inn's 17 exquisite guest rooms and suites would have been booked by F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald when visiting Duke -- if Duke had existed in the 1920s (and Prohibition had not). Room furnishings and those in the Inn's public areas are Baker/Drexel Heritage/Henredon in quality and look, with vintage pieces reflecting the Jazz Age selectively thrown in.

Priced favorably in comparison to the Washington Duke Inn near Duke's West Campus and the Carolina Inn and the Franklin Hotel near UNC in neighboring Chapel Hill, the King's Daughters Inn is just across the street from the eastern wall of Duke's East Campus and near the happening Ninth Street District near the campus's west side. With its free on-site parking, in-room Apple laptops and complimentary WiFi, oversized plasma TVs, divine bed linens, thick towels, custom bath toiletries, and turndown service with sherry and artisanal chocolates -- in a dedicated green environment to boot -- if you can snag a reservation here (and any room will do), grab it.

Extra tip: when enjoying the excellent hot breakfasts included in the price, be sure to try the homemade scones and lemon curd and equally fabulous homemade granola -- which is fabulous even for those who do not necessarily like granola!

My husband and I arrived in Durham for his surgery at Duke a day early so we would have some time to decompress and sight-see before the big event. I had booked a room at KDI expecting to stay one night and then move to a less-expensive hotel directly across the street from the hospital. After checking out our room and the hotel location, and learning that they offer a special medical rate, I canceled our other reservation and stayed all 3 nights at KDI. Our room was luxurious and spacious, and nicely decorated with a comfortable sitting area. It had a large flat screen TV that also served as a computer monitor. And the bath was spa-like. The place was spotless. It was comfortable and quiet. The inn is across the street from the Duke campus and a very short walk from the new Bull City Connector bus - a free bus running from downtown Durham to the Duke Clinic every 15 - 20 minutes with many stops along the way. The innkeepers are gracious and helpful. The inn has 17 rooms and has the feel of a B&B but also has services you'd expect in a larger hotel. We'll definitely stay there for the post-surgery followup appointments.

From the gracious owners to the charming decor and the tasty in-suite breakfast, our stay at the King's Daughters Inn was a treat. My husband and I stayed in the Trinity Suite and enjoyed the sun porch for in-suite made-to-order breakfast. The robes and linens were luxuriously soft and the turn down service, complete with port wine and decadent chocolates, further reinforced the love and care the Crossman's take in their guests and the Inn. A wonderful oasis from the the hustle of everyday life.

This is a fantastic bed & breakfast located next to the Duke Campus in Durham. The attention to detail here will just amaze you. The owners and staff are professional, warm and friendly and willing to do whatever need be to make your stay here a memorable one. My husband took me here for a birthday surprise (our 24 -hr getaway without kids) and we had a truly wonderful time.
No matter which room you choose to stay in, you cannot be disappointed. You will be able to tell immediately that a great amount of love went into the decor and accommodations here. I was surprised that there was so much to do in the area right around the Inn. It's a short walk to Ninth Street and the Brightleaf area with lots of great shops and restaurants to choose from. We already have plans for another stay at the end of October! Who knew a great mini-vacation could be just minutes from your home!!

This newly renovated Inn is like a step back in time. It has been recently renovated with hand crafted furniture made by Colin's (one of the owners) family. The designs are unique and comfortable. My daughter and I were able to tour various rooms and we were so excited about the contemporary sophistication of the rooms that we would have gladly paid admission!
Comfortable beds, friendly owners and a scrumptious full breakfast made our stay a delight. Would highly recommend as a place for an overnight stay or extended visit!
