What a surprise! These lovely gardens are huge and immaculate. The landscape architects have planned lovely vistas around every turn. Don't miss this if you are in the area. And did I mention, they are free?!

We spent most of our time in the Culbertson Asiatic Arboretum with its famous pond and red bridge. Our girls loved feeding the very tame ducks and geese (you can buy approved food at the Visitor Center). They even fed a huge school of bullheads. Everywhere you turn is something lovely. The gardens are masterfully planned, as you would expect, with plenty of shade or plenty of sun depending on what you like or where you are. The Historic Terraces and Fish Pool (huge koi) are remarkable, and it's a great place for a light lunch at the Terrace Cafe. A wedding was being held and at one point the bride and groom faced the Fish Pool and terraced gardens as a tenor sang to their party.

Best of all it's free, other than the parking. 50% sponsorship from donors and 50% from the university.

Beautiful gardens to visit honestly anytime of the year if you simply just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It is so peaceful out there and of course viewing the beautiful flowers and learning about the exotic plant varieties is a plus as well. Great place to have a picnic lunch followed by a lazy afternoon (even with a nap) lounging on your blanket in the spacious lawn area or the private garden areas throughout the property.

I took a quick stroll around. I missed the Rose gardens but did see many other gardens. When I got a bit overheated (was hot day) I went to the Nasher Museum of Art and had some nice cold water and lunch
