Great place for a beer, or to sit outside by a fire pit on a fall day. The food is enjoyable, but not something to be savored. The waitstaff is a bit uneven. Some good, some in need of some training.

Stopped here for dinner before a Durham Bulls game. Got seated and almost left because no one came out to wait on us. Waitress told us that there was some confusion as to who would be waiting on the tables outside. I ordered their special, fried chicken club, and was disappointed to see the fried chicken was actually two frozen pre-breaded pieces of chicken. Not very good. The fries were tasty, but cold so I got more. My wife ordered mac and cheese. It was pedestrian. This is the kind of execution that restaurants in Raleigh are famous for. I wasn't expecting this in Durham especially at the Brightleaf Square area. Once was enough for me.

On a warm spring afternoon, this was a fun place to enjoy a sandwich and a beer. Located conveniently downtown Alivia's has several local craft beers available along with a diversified menu to please most tastes. Both indoor and outdoor dining, but the patio beckoned on the sunny day we visited.Good food and good fun in a comfortable spot.

We had a quality meal at an average price. Many Duke students of to the restaurant and the Bright Leaf Marketplace is across the street.
