It had been a couple of years since we've been here (wasn't real good experience back then), but decided to give it another shot after church because Nixon's Family Restrauant has permanently closed. Place looks like it use to be a warehouse/garage (?) but was set up throughout with large tables. We ate at a table that only had 1 other person sitting and he wasn't there very long after we sat down. As we arrived at the table, we were immediately greeted by a pleasant young man who took our drink orders. Buffet had BBQ pork, fried shrimp, fried chicken, a pepper steak concoction, frog legs, chicken grizzards, and fried fish with mashed potatoes, green beans, greens, hush puppies, rolls and a few other items. I thought the shrimp was very good, chicken & BBQ pork weren't bad and my bride enjoyed the gizzards & fried fish. Salad bar was small with a small selection of items for a salad along with cole slaw, potato salad, and chicken salad, all of which I thought were very good. They also had clam chowder which wasn't bad but not great either. Dessert bar was pretty skimpy by the time we were ready for dessert as all that was available was sweet potato pie & a multiple layer yellow cake with chocolate icing. Cake was pretty good but would have been better with coffee. As we were leaving, they did put out what looked like good apple pie and another dish that might have been cheesecake? The wait staff busted their buns keeping the tables cleared and the drink glasses full but judging for the tip jar, they are severely under appreciated! And best of all, the meal was reasonably priced for a Sunday buffet.
