We have previously had rather bad service from two of the innkeepers in Edenton and it was therefore most refreshing to meet two people who understand the levels of service expected in this industry. Don and Diane are friendly and approachable without being in your face all the time, and are most helpful re what to do and see in the area.
The house is lovely and our room, "Blackbeard the Pirate's Room", was spacious, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The downstairs lounge is also very nice but the best feature of all is the gorgeous, roomy front porch where relaxing on the chairs is surely a pre-requisite for any stay at a Southern inn. We really enjoyed some lazy time here and also had the pleasure of chatting with fellow guests, which is another huge advantage of staying at an inn as opposed to a large hotel.
Fresh coffee is left outside your room in the morning, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is freshly cooked and ours included very good fruit salad and well cooked eggs and good quality sausage patties. We were here on a Sunday when all downtown restaurants are closed, and Don provided some excellent barbecue sandwiches so that we would not go hungry. On our visit he also told us about the local college baseball team and gave us some free tickets for the game.
Edenton is one of our favourite places to visit in the USA and it is most pleasing to have now found what is easily the best Inn to stay at.
