“This is the best Inn in Edenton”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

We have previously had rather bad service from two of the innkeepers in Edenton and it was therefore most refreshing to meet two people who understand the levels of service expected in this industry. Don and Diane are friendly and approachable without being in your face all the time, and are most helpful re what to do and see in the area.

The house is lovely and our room, "Blackbeard the Pirate's Room", was spacious, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The downstairs lounge is also very nice but the best feature of all is the gorgeous, roomy front porch where relaxing on the chairs is surely a pre-requisite for any stay at a Southern inn. We really enjoyed some lazy time here and also had the pleasure of chatting with fellow guests, which is another huge advantage of staying at an inn as opposed to a large hotel.

Fresh coffee is left outside your room in the morning, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is freshly cooked and ours included very good fruit salad and well cooked eggs and good quality sausage patties. We were here on a Sunday when all downtown restaurants are closed, and Don provided some excellent barbecue sandwiches so that we would not go hungry. On our visit he also told us about the local college baseball team and gave us some free tickets for the game.

Edenton is one of our favourite places to visit in the USA and it is most pleasing to have now found what is easily the best Inn to stay at.

My husband and I had a nice time in Edenton, NC and enjoyed our stay at the Captain's Quarters. Our room was comfortable, the food was great and we had a wonderful time. We came for the "Rib University" and were not disappointed! The first night Don & Diane prepared a nice rib tasting social that was just a intro to what to expect the next day. After a delicious breakfast, we attended the "Rib University". Don was very informative & entertaining as he educated us on a proper way to smoke ribs. We spent the rest of the day exploring Edenton. Then, later that evening, was a nice dinner with the barbecue results of everyone that participated. The dinner was complemented with baked beans, cole slaw, cornbread and more. Yes, we will visit again!

My husband and I visited Captain's Quarters Inn over Memorial Day weekend for the Rib University package we purchased on Living Social. This is the second time we have taken this trip, we had such a great time we decided to come back! Edenton is a slow, sleepy seaside town and the perfect place to relax on the porch with a glass of wine or to walk around and observe the beautiful old Victorian style homes and gardens. The B & B is a wonderful place to stay, the owners Don and Dianne have created a warm and welcoming environment and I can't say enough about the amazing breakfast menu, delicious!! We thoroughly enjoyed our Rib University experience with Don, learning how to prepare and smoke ribs, seasoned and cooked to perfection! We are already planning our next trip to Captain's Quarters Inn. Thanks for the great weekend!

Room Tip: Would recommend staying upstairs rather than downstairs.

This was our second time returning to Captains Quarters for Memorial Day weekend and Rib University with Don. Whether we were sitting on the porch enjoying the breeze and a glass of wine, or just wandering through the historic downtown Edenton, our experience was as peaceful as it was unforgettable. Thank you Don and Dianne for the wonderful stay that we hope to enjoy for years to come.

My husband and I stayed Memorial Weekend and it was a wonderful experience. This bed and breakfast was cozy, clean, and some of the most wonderful food we have ever tasted. Don and Diane are great host. The town was quaint and peaceful. Our room had a big bathroom with a tub I loved. We will be returning!

A two night stay at this B&B included a morning "class" on how to prepare a southern BBQ, followed by an evening dinner where we ate the smoked ribs that we had prepared earlier in our class. Our room, number 8, was dark, walls of dark wood paneling. Other rooms appeared well appointed, bright and cheerful. The innkeepers were very gracious, helpful, and made us feel "at home". A very relaxing place to stay....however, I would choose a different room next time around...Edenton is an awesome area, too,

I have now stayed at Captain's Quarters Inn several times this spring. This is a gorgeous home in an ideal Edenton location (walking distance to the main street with shops, movies and the sound). Don and Diane are lovely hosts who prepare the most scrumptious breakfasts (using local veggies and often home made/cured/smoked sausage and bbq). Their wine collection, featuring many CA vintages, is superb (and lovely to sip on the large porch with a book or chat with fellow travelers). Their local knowledge of the area a real plus for folks new to the area. Rooms are spacious, impeccably decorated and affordable. I look forward to many more visits!
