“A Hidden Gem in North Carolina's Wine Country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

We live about 35 miles from this property, but needed to be at the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival early on a Saturday morning, so we stayed here for two nights. Check-in was fast and friendly, and there were plenty of valet carts available just inside the main entry door. The cookies were a welcome treat, especially the puffy chocolate ones with cocoanut filling. So was the coffee carafe area, with regular, bold, decaf and hot water.

The rooms were nice, thought not what I'd call a suite, the king bed was in the same area as the sofa, credenza, coffee table, and work desk. The bathroom was squeaky clean and plenty of room for two people in the morning. The credenza with large flat screen tv on top also contained a mini-fridge, microwave, and safe. Our only observation was the air conditioning was noisier than our home central air. It was cool enough outdoors that we turned off the A/C overnight.

The vending on our floor was in an enclosed room with a door, so there was no noise when others filled ice or got drinks from the machines.

This is a smoke-free property, but they accommodated us smokers with butt stations outside the side doors. The lobby and breakfast area are nicely decorated, a big screen tv on one wall, and the breakfast selection was one of the best I've experienced, with bacon/sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, toast/bagel selection, two waffle stations, hard boiled eggs, packets of cheese, cold cereal, yogurt, a juice selection and a fresh fruit mix.

This is one of the nicest mid-price chain properties we've stayed at during our travels, and I highly recommend it to others. It's just off I-77 at exit 85, yet even though we were on the end closest to the onramp, we heard no traffic noise.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, truly a delight for our two-night stay. They seem to appreciate your being a guest. Located in the heart of North Carolina's wine country, home to about 1/3 of all the wineries in the state, you can be at any one of 18 wineries within a 20 minute drive.

Green Features: The ask if you want to reuse towels for more than one day.

Great hotel, friendly staff, and conveniently located near the exit. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed several nights as I attending an event nearby and each day I was impressed with this hotel.

There is not much to do in the Elkin area besides visit wineries, so we did spend a good bit of time at the hotel and we truly enjoyed it. I was able to check-in early, make use of the wonderful outdoor patio, relax at the indoor pool, have delicious hot breakfasts, and try wines from a local winery which held a tasting in the lobby Friday night. Plus any time I had a question or request the hotel staff went above and beyond to help.

Room Tip: The hotel has standard rooms and suites, while both are roomy for the most space request a suite or...

There is a very good reason that this hotel is the best of brand. It's not your typical Fairfield Inn. It is better designed, more attractive and very accommodating to its guests. And the amazing thing is that it is located in what would be the middle of nowhere, except for all of the wineries in this sleepy area of North Carolina.

Green Features: This is as "green" as it gets, but quality is not sacrificed anywhere.

Fairfield Inn and Suites is a nice hotel, but the rooms aren't really suites. They have a bed and a sofa-bed but they are in the same room. They do have a microwave and and a small frig in each room, which is very nice. This particular one has candy in dishes for visitors and an excellent breakfast in the morning as well as copies of the newspaper available for guests. Less than a mile away is an excellent seafood restaurant called Pirate's Cove.

Room Tip: Some "deluxe" suites have a half wall for privacy between the bed and the sofa, but the st...

We were going to stop in Christenburg, but wanted to drive more and the fairfield there recommended this one. Hard to believe this is a Fairfield property. Nice decor, outside patio with fireplace. Breakfast was very good. Beds comfortable. No complaints.

As soon as you walk in the door, the wonderful colors and modern style draw you in. The lady at the desk was very sweet and informative. No problems with the check in. I stayed in their King Suite and was really happy with it. Very clean and modern. You have two flat screen TV's (one in the bedroom area and a bigger one in the sitting area. Bose stereo, Keurig coffee maker, micro/fridge, large bathroom, and a desk area. The lobby has a large TV and tons of seating. They have an outside patio. Beautiful stone work, waterfall, and fireplace. (I should have taken a picture to show). The free breakfast is unbelievable. Sausage gravy with bisquits, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and all that other stuff that you usually only get at the other places:) You can take your breakfast out on the patio and eat by the waterfall! Just wonderful!!!! I didn't use the pool, so can't comment on it. I did use the fitness area. They have up to date equipment. Nice! There are two convenience stores within walking distance. It's in a quiet area, so that is nice:) I would recommend this hotel all day long:) I will stay again.

First the good - big rooms, friendly staff, lovely outside facilities and a great breakfast (much better than standard). Just off the highway. Now the not so great, smallish issues, radiator cover not secure, bathroom mirror loose light fixture needs cleaning and tightening. Nothing very bad and a sign of a busy hotel - but for those small issues an excellent. I would stay again and I recommend.
