“A truly exceptional Bed and Breakfast!”
Reviewed 19 August 2011

From the moment we arrived to be greeted by Gene as we got out of the car to the chat about so many things over breakfast on our last day our whole stay at Acorn BNB was a delight. Our room - Magnolia - was wonderful especially the cookies ( homemade) and chocolates! Everything was of a very high quality and showed an attention to detail and the desire to please guests which we have not come across anywhere else we have stayed in the world! Breakfasts were truly amazing and delicious. The whole experience of staying here is something that will be one of the outstanding memories of our trip from the UK. A delightful place with delightful hosts!

Overall a great pick, a perfect retreat. Hard to find, off the beaten path, but certainly worth the drive a little out of town. Innkeeper could not be better - he is a natural in hospitality - 1st class. Not only that, but a chef by trade, so prepare for some excellent breakfasts.
You are safe picking any of the 5 rooms at Acorn. Pets are welcome in the downstairs rooms. I choice Acorn because I was originally traveling with a sick cat. When my cat passed away I kept my reservation and even still stayed in the room that allowed pets. I worried that it may be a bit more beat up from dog use but there was no evidence that any pet had ever been there. The room was perfect and I felt lucky to have the privacy of the large downstairs area and my own entrance.
Hope to return to Asheville and stay again at Acorn. Thanks Gene!

This was a great place to stay overnight, and we would happily stay longer if we have the opportunity. The hosts were very gracious, and the B&B was spotless and comfy. I knew we were hooked when we found delicious chocolates in our room upon checking in, and there were lots of nice touches like fluffy robes and slippers. The bed was super comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and it was a short drive to Hendersonville, Asheville and lots of great places for day hikes. Hope to be back soon!

We couldn't go to the Asheville area without spending at least one night at the Acorn Bed and Breakfast. It was every bit as wonderful as we remembered from last year. Gene and Bob were so welcoming that it felt like coming home to family. We were the only guests the night we were there, and Gene offered us the Magnolia room, the master suite, rather than the Rose room that we had reserved. However, we love the decor of the Rose room, and it's so comfortable, so that's where we stayed. As before, breakfast was not to be believed: homemade peach syrup for our pancakes, after sitting down to a fresh peach smoothie and a bowl of fresh blackberries and peaches. So now we're trying to figure out when our next visit will be.

Gene and Bob spoiled us during our stay at the B&B. Breakfast is made when you want it, by a chef that worked at the Biltmore Estate for 7 years (Gene). Everything about this place is unique and original, including the acorn decorated everything and the edible acorn chocolates. If you're lucky you will recieve the best chocolate chip cookies on your nightstand while you are out during the night exploring Asheville. Have fun, and know that if you stay here you will not want to return to your other home.

We spent two nights at the Acorn Bed & Breakfast. We knew we were in for a treat when we drove up and found a sign with our names on it to welcome us. We stayed in the Rose Room, which was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Gene and Bob are hands-on innkeepers, willing to take the time to sit and talk, provide advice on the area, etc. Gene recommended a restaurant and even made the reservations for us. We decided to take in an outdoor concert in Hendersonville, and they provided us with folding chairs to take along. And breakfasts! The menu changes daily, and it's all wonderful. Gene is a professional chef, and you will not go away from the table hungry. Typical of the kind of service, Gene overheard me tell my husband at breakfast the last monring how much our daughter would have loved his homemade apple butter. Next thing I knew, there was a little jar on the table next to me! Right now, we're trying to pick a date to go back this summer.

This was an excellent B&B. Upon arrival there was a welcome sign out front with our names on it. Warm fresh cookies waiting for us when we got in. Our room was wonderful, spacious, and beautifully appointed. It had it's own private bath and door to the deck outside. I cannot say enough about Gene's cooking, he is a wonderful chef and the breakfasts were excellent and plentiful. Gene and Bob made our stay fun, relaxing. They were the first hosts of a B&B that I've ever stayed at that actually took the time to sit and talk with you, other B&B's I've stayed at they have rarely said more than high to you, or maybe talked to you while you were served breakfast.
