The inn has a quaint ambiance, identical to something you feel when you finally get to grandmothers house after a long trip. Gene (the innkeeper) greets you and escorts you to your room, he adds personality to your room by hanging a painted on a slate plate with your name on the door :) I appreciate the details that he puts into the simple things, this is what makes Southern hospitality the best and Gene is a master of his craft.
Before we went to bed he asked our preferred time of breakfast and our preference of hot tea or coffee. We arose to the smell of crackling bacon and fresh brewed coffee. The table presentation was semi formal, just cozy enough to dig in but not to informal that you have a paper napkin. We had strawberry bandanna smoothies in champagne flutes, very yummy. The meal started with fresh peaches in a short martini glass, cute :) Then came the GLORIOUS buttermilk pancakes with Apple Butter Syrup (still dreaming of this syrup) and smoked bacon! Loved all of it, he also had a pastry bar with preserves and baked breads :)
We sat and chatted up with Gene over breakfast and we will deff come back for Gene alone, the inn is just the cherry on top!
Can't wait for twelve days of Christmas, see you soon Gene!
