“Love this campgrounds!”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 via mobile

Stayed Sept 8 to Sept 12. Called about one month ahead and reserved my camp site. Promptly received the confirmation email. When we arrived, check in was quick and easy. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. Our site was right on the Sound. Our site was shaded and large. Had no trouble with the faucet or electricity (one we were loaned an adapter from the office). There was no one next to us for our entire stay, which was nice. However, folks were always walking by with their dogs and would always stop to chat. We were able to leave all of our great out, unsecured and didn't fear it would be stolen. Bathrooms/showers were always clean and in good working order. I don't have one bad thing to say about this camp grounds. Wish I could have stayed longer!

We just camped at FWC for the first time with friends who have been coming here for 10 years. Between our 5 families we had 13 boys and they had a ball! One friend brought his 15 foot sail boat and all the kids enjoyed going out on sailing trips in the sound as well as day trips across the highway to the ocean...all very accessible and easy in and out!
The bathrooms were clean, stalls always stocked with fresh toilet paper and water was plentiful...boy do those cool showers feel good after a 90 degree day at the beach! Our tent campsites were sound front, 500 yards to the bathhouse, level and shaded with trees. The ONLY complaint we had were the folks in the pop-up camper next to our ring of tents who played music VERY LOUD until about 2:30 in the morning...even though the camp rules say it is "quiet time" after 10 pm. All-in-all a great weekend and we will be back!

I read the reviews and wasn't sure whether to go to frisco woods campground but my husband and I decided to give it a try and I am so glad we did. We spent Labor Day weekend it was great! The sunset views were fabulous....everyone we talked with was so nice. We are looming forward to returning.

I stayed in Frisco woods campground during the third weekend of August. All in all it's your most basic campground - simple, open sites, family oriented, uninspiring. Me and my husband decided to stay in the "remote" site, #79. This site sits atop a small hill in the middle of the campground. Its fairly wooded and if you're lucky enough to get the hilltop to yourself, like we were, it seems to be the most isolated tent site. The waterfront sites are pretty exposed and very close to each other and there is a dirt road that sits between those sites and Pamlico sound- stink. The waterfront is also pretty murky and a bit smelly. The bathrooms are basic with the usual fair share of spider webs and lingering mosquitos, but moderately clean with decent shower pressure and hot water. The pool looked nice and well kept but we didn't go in.
My biggest complaint was that on Friday night, there was a total party going on at one of the sites throughout the night. Even though we were on the hill, we could feel and hear the bass from the music the group was playing. Pretty obnoxious - especially when there's quiet time after 11 and that the place was filled with kids. I guess this is not the fault of the owners, but there was no effort to quiet down the group.
Bottom line - not worth the 40 dollar price per night for a mediocre tent site.

First let me say that since we visit in a travel trailer, we seldom use the bathroom facilities, and cannot vouch for their condition. The restrooms on the east side look newer than the ones by the pool and the ones to the west near the tent area. We also only visit in the Spring and Fall "shoulder" seasons, so the campground is never full while we are there. The pool looks nice enough, but we prefer the beach. The Laundromat area seems serviceable enough.

We love Frisco Woods and visit at least twice per year. We always try to stay in one of the sound-side campsites. The view is phenomenal, and the sunsets are terrific. If you are into kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, wind surfing, or kite boarding - or want to try any of those activities, this is the perfect place to be. Even if you do not participate, watching is fun.

We love the location as we are surf fishermen, and there is a beach access ramp very nearby. You are also in a good location to go either east to Buxton and Avon, or south to Hatteras and the ferry to Okacroke. Captain Rolo's Raw Bar and Grill is adjacent to the campground, so you can get some decent food and drink without driving anywhere. The campground store is well stocked with essentials and camping supplies. We always found the staff to be courteous and helpful, but then again we have never been there in peak season when the pressure might be higher.

Hatteras is a very windy place, and if you are exposed out by the sound, you are going to feel it. But since we live year round near the ocean, I guess we are used to it .....

I have been camping with my family for several years now and I must say we truly enjoyed this campground. I mean you can park your RV or pop up your tent right on Pamlico Sound with beautiful sunset views. They had a nice pool, several bath houses and a great store with just about anything you may need on a trip. We were also 1 mile away from a public beach access to the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in NC. (I'm from Florida so I know beaches) They also had a DJ on Friday night and Karaoke so a lot of the campers were out enjoying a cold drink and some tunes. Overall it was a great trip; the family loved it and we plan on heading back soon.

Room Tip: Book early so you can book a site right on the sound.

Just returned from our trip to FWC. We had great weather, beautiful sunsets and really enjoyed kayaking on the sound and the close by access to the beach. This could be a great campground if the owners would invest some money into the bathrooms. They were minimally cleaned daily but they need upgraded badly. With the amount of people who were at the campground last week they should of been cleaned hourly. There is mold growing on old shower curtains and by the afternoon most of the toilets are clogged and unusable. And whatever you do dont look up.. wow.. Not sure we will return there to stay in a cabin/tent if changes are not made to the bathrooms.
